Fuck societal expectations.
Why gender-roles are idiotic.
“Stop crying, you’re a man!” “Ugh, you don’t shave? It’s so gross a woman thinks that’s okay.”
Ever heard this before? Or even perhaps similar quotes of these magnitudes?
I find in particular men follow gender-roles so much stricter than women. If a female wears her boyfriends clothes it’s ‘cute’ but if a man wore his girlfriends, there are people who would laugh at him.
Men don’t ‘seem’ to be able to open up about their emotional turmoil, much more so than women. Men struggle with this expectation that they are taught, that men are supposed to be strong, emotionless and earn lots of money.
I hate it. I hate that. I hate hate hate anything gender-stereotyping.
There are more galaxies in this universe than is comprehensible to a human being. There are more stars in the milky way than we can comprehend fully.. The sheer magnitude of the universe we can’t truly imagine because we don’t have the ability to physically see it or compare it to a personal experience.
There is something that is comprehensive though. Something that no-one seems to really appreciate or think upon and I try to enforce this knowledge on anyone I meet.
In over 250 Billion galaxies there isn’t another being the exact same as you. You aren’t one in a million or a billion. You are one in over 250 billion.
WE CAN’T COMPREHEND THAT! The sheer velocity that is our universe is overwhelming.. I can’t for the life of me understand why people think they must follow a certain stereotype or role that has been subliminally put in place when they are so unique, so utterly unique.
You are a human being before you are a gender.
Our genders don’t define us, what the media tells us we should/shouldn’t be doesn’t define us, how we react to certain situation doesn’t define us..
What defines us is the ripples we omit in our lifetimes. The ripples of happiness, kindness and love we push unto other peoples shores. The moments of kindness that linger in our hearts even in distant memory that leaves us shaking our heads fondly.
When you do something nice for the sake of making a stranger smile that defines you in their eyes, their impression is a positive one and how can you know if your act of kindness didn’t change their outlook for the day? How can you know the ripples you omitted didn’t cause a chain reaction making them want to do the same for another?
You can’t.. You can hope but truly knowing is something we’re unlikely to figure out.
When you do something cruel or mean to a stranger for the sake of getting your emotional turmoil vented that defines you in their eyes. Their impression is negative and the chances are you left their outlook for the day negative.
Maybe you didn’t mean it, maybe it was just a really bad day and you feel remorse for your actions.. They’ll never know though. That moment whether it positive or negative defines you for a stranger you’ll perhaps never meet again but when you look in the mirror or in the past I hope you look back and smile for the kindness you have brought unto this world and gained wisdom from the times you gave negativity.
Wisdom isn’t gained from only doing the correct things your entire life, it’s gained from fucking things up and wishing so hard you could change time and events that were. We all say, do or act in the wrong ways sometimes and that’s human.
It’s human to be angry, hurt, upset, depressed, happy, elated, excited.. It’s human to have a complex amount of emotions and it’s human to need support and love. People love you for the good and the bad, your friends and family support you in the times of darkness and times of light. Don’t let gender-roles diminish your humanity.
Your humanity is so important, all of our humanitiarian ways are. We need to unite with love and care rather as a continuing slope of negativity and apathy. We need to feel connected because we are social animals.. We are human beings.
Our souls are the beauty within us and that beauty can pour out of our skin.. These bodies will wither with time but our souls will continue to blossom and spiral. I care more for the soul of a human being than how much they can bench-press or how much money they make.
I want to help, aid and hug the problems away from every human being whose path I cross and so far I’ve done a pretty good job in 2016.. I am human though, I fuck up and hurt people. I’m not perfect, I’m very far from it but I will never stop trying to help people and bring them happiness.
I will never cease making my life one that is about ripples of happiness.
I will never cease to care for human beings and their life-journeys, through sadness or happiness.
