The leftist YouTuber “EssanceofThought” posted a video on how Christianity “normalized abuse.” (“The Link Between Christianity and Abuse Culture”). Now, I’m or going to accuse this person of “christophpbia” (she seems pretty cordial towards Christians in the comments, though she unfortunately she has some misconceptions). I know we should always strive to learn about how others think.. should I watch it?

So she essentially believes that there was no abuse in the world before Ze Ebil Christians came around???

To me it sounds like just another variant of the Noble Savage myth.

Does she actually say that Christianity in particular normalises abuse? If so, I cannot see why she should not be called out for Christophobia. It's a good thing that she does not treat Christians like most in her position would, but such a statement is slanderous and irrationally hateful nonetheless. Ask yourself this: if somebody said "Yo, I love all my gay friends, y'all really swell people and I am glad to have you in my life, but let's face it: your lifestyle is at fault for the normalisation of promiscuity and paedophilia", would anybody even hesitate to characterise that as blatant homophobia?

Maybe you can watch the video and tell us what arguments she is making.

TBH, almost everything Celty says is bound to be hot garbage, so I usually don't waste my time in analysing all the exact ways in which she's being irrational and hateful.

Still, for a radfem, at least she's quite consistent in her hatetheism, or so I recall. Some of her ideological compatriots, on the other hand, will spout this exact same BS about Christianity yet will passionately defend Islam in the same breath.

These are the exact same kind of people which will start whinging that they are "having religion shoved down their throats" and that "religion is like a d*ck etc etc" when you dare to express any Christian opinion in public.

There ain't nothing quite as hilarious as seeing a fundy atheist go on his usual, Dawkinesque, copy-paste screeching rant about how God and religion is fake and it's all a fairytale made up to control the population and make citizens docile...all while, in the given context, he seems to be essentially insinuating that we ought to stop criticising Biden and Harris, and dutifully submit to Mommy State.

In other words: you must have a very strange definition of "docility" if it includes literally criticising government and the establishment, and pointing out how their agenda is at odds with one's faith and with sound morals.
