So, I've been losing sleep imagining tavern keeper Merlin.

I have a prompt in my head that inspired this.

Taverns. Stories from patrons. Merlin being a good listener, and/or retelling stories he's heard if his customer needs it.

His favorite patron is Prince Arthur who seem to be up to some very silly quests recently. His latest is trying to 'rescue' a princess from a tower. And he keeps coming back to the tavern every time he fails miserably.

Merlin knows it's Arthur whenever he hears someone enter the building with the subtlety of a rampaging boar. Sometimes Arthur is covered in mud, sometimes he comes in with the tips of his hair still on fire, and other times he's just covered in some unidentifiable substances. Arthur is more than willing to complain to Merlin about how hard it is to get to this princess. And Merlin is more than happy to listen and tease the prince.

So far, he's apparently fought three-headed boars, man-eating plants, and fire-breathing toads. Merlin told Arthur that maybe there is something to this princess which is why she was heavily protected, she could be dangerous or something. But Arthur simply said that 'that may be true and it's not like I want to rescue her, but father demands I bring her to the castle.'

In the end, it's revealed that the princess Arthur is trying to rescue is Morgana who locked herself in a tower because she was pissed at Uther somehow.
