The screens were blocky, old and dusty with years of neglect, But the scenes on the screens were unmistakable. They were looking at the circus. Kaufmo shifted uncomfortably next to Ribbit as if the sight of the circus was too much and She placed a hand on his arm, grounding and loving, "its okay, we're out remember?" Their tone was gentle and calm, Kaufmo nodded. The clowns gaze found its way to a screen displaying familiar bright pink colors. He furrowed his brows and leaned down, wiping a thick layer of dust from the old screen. "RiRi..is that.." his voice trailed off. They both knew the answer.
"Ribbit.." he mumbled, shaking her slightly.
It was Jax's room, bright and colorful despite the awful sight of jax curled on the bed. Kaufmo felt Ribbit tense beside him, her dark eyes staring so intense at the screen he was momentarily afraid she may break it. They both stared at jax for a long moment, unspoken sadness weighing heavy on the pair. "He isnt okay, is he?" Kaufmo spoke, voice low and mournful. "No. He isnt." Ribbit turned her head away quickly, but kaufmo still saw the tears fall down her cheeks. Before he could speak any comfort to his friend, a familiar bright array of colors shifted on the scene below them.
Jax's small form on the TV shifted, bright glitches and complex patterns elongating off of him in a mournful dance. It was almost beautiful, if it wasnt for the fact they were witnessing their loved one abstract.
"No. No no-" Ribbit hissed, nearly shoving kaufmo aside, " He is NOT allowed to die!" And Their fists hit the old TV with much more force then Kaufmo thought was possible, rattling the monitors almost off of the table. He stared at the scene, a sense of helplessness beginning to burrow into his chest. He wrapped his arms around ribbit and gently pulled her away from the screens before they could break them. Her cussing turned into full body sobs as kaufmo held her.
Through the tears pricking at the corners of his eyes, kaufmo saw the abstraction fade as light filled the room. "Ri...hes okay" She nearly toppled kaufmo over for the second time that night in an effort to see the screen.
