Can I run reliably with a single Fusion-io card installed in a server, or do I need to deploy two cards in a software RAID setup?

Fusion-io isn’t very clear (almost misleading) on the topic when reviewing their marketing materials Given the cost of the cards, I’m curious how other engineers deploy them in real-world scenarios.

XtremeIO presentations (weak). Had great 20min 1-on-1 conversation with an actual customer running XremeIO SF (PCIe card) and said you can get 9GB/sec with out of box support (no tuning). He compared against FusionIO (I am a shareholder) and it was about the same on speeds but the software and failure support on XtremeSF cards blows it away. Great discussions

EMC has released XtremSW to put EMC FAST (Fully automated storage tiering) software in 3rd Party Flash PCI product (like FIO and INTL).

So, now you can use EMC FAST software suite inside the VNX or VMax and extend read cache to Fusion I/O cards inside of Cisco UCS chassis.
