Fashion beats tradition

 In this blogpost I want to feature Iris van Herpen new season collection. She is a big name in the fashion industry.

 In the spring/summer collection for 2016 Iris gets inspired and explores the influences of nature and architecture. She was inspired by the tree bridges in India. By this influence she created a new garment construction, combining cutting, weaving and folding. This technique is nothing we ever seen in the industry.

Iris wanted to show as if the clothes are plants that grow and is like an maze around your body.

 She uses 3D printing in her dresses and a lot of different techniques like laser cutting and hand weaving. And to show the growth process and the architecture she uses lace as the key material in the clothes. With the use of basic colours like nude, grey, black and white she emphasizes the nature.

 Is this the future ID for fashion? I think we will be seeing more and more influences from nature and architecture and these new techniques will be normal for us in a couple of years. Clothes will be not only a fashion statement but also a way to work with your body and to show how the inside works on the outside.

Hangover makeup!

 There are a lot of crazy trends in Japan, but this one I like and I want to give it a try!

 It’s called futsukayoi what means hangover but they also call it ofero wat means pheromones. They call it like this because you look a little hangover but because of the pinks and big eyes it makes you look sexier and attractive. This is a trend that started in Tokyo and it’s really hot at the moment. You want your skin to look like baby skin. Really dewy and pearly skin and soft peach and pink tones. You can see in the video how to achive this look.

 With this trend you can see the influences of the western world. The big eyes and dewy baby skin is something that is seen by Japanese as the beauty ideal. This is what’s big in the youth culture of Japan. Their trends go really quick but they have the same western influence. And what we can ask ourselves will we maybe see in a Future ID, the Japanese skin/look as a beauty ideal. I really like this look and I’m really interested in the Japanese youth cultures.

 Because I liked it so much I tried it myself. I did a look with some influences of the hangover makeup because I had to work later that day and didn’t want to do my makeup again. I really liked it and I felt really cute. I’m really going to make this look again and then maybe even use a little but more of the pink under my eye because I really liked that part. You can see my before and after in the pictures. On the before I only used fluid highlighter mixed with moisturizer.

New beginnings?

 A new trend in the fashion industry is fabric with sensors in it. I want to highlight to different kind of fabric’s. So if you want to know more about the future of fashion? Keep on reading!

 The first subject is the Sensoree Neurotiq Project. It is a concept that creates mood sweaters (you still remember moodrings?) and headpieces. On the image you can see a headpiece. It tracks brain waves to determine someone’s mood and state of mind. With different moods the colours of the headpiece changes. This type of wearable is on the emotional level and suggest that in the future we wear clothes that match our feelings. Also 3D printing will be a big object in our lives. The Sensoree Neurotiq headpieces are also 3D printed.

 The second is Ruff. They also use 3D printed garments. Ruff is an interactive wearable but also a transmission conduit. This smart fabric connects with neurological signals and trough this signals the garment begins to move. It connects the psychical world to the wearer’s body. It is created by Behnaz Farahi and Pauline van Dongen and printed it at will.i.am’s 3D printing studio.

 These signals have to do with Future ID. We can think about how we are going to look in the future. It is something that is blanc for everyone. But it also can accompany status. If you can pay to the price of these items already it can be a status item.
