I'm not much of an E rated long fics reader, but I got lured in by the pretty art and skippable sex scenes (I haven't skipped them because they're delightful and written in a way I vibe with a lot, but I thought having the option was so thoughtful!) and this is now one of the fics I've had the most fun reading in my whole life. I'm one chapter late but I know it's going to be a TREAT.

This fandom is such a gift! I haven't read this much fic (still not a lot compared to most of you, but it is to me) since my very first fandom ten years ago. That's all thanks to these amazing characters and the stellar writing that comes out of this fandom. If you read any of these fics, please leave a kudos and nice comment for the author if you can, I know for sure that you'll make their day! 💜 I'll add a little link to my own fics (I like cosy and chill vibes and ace headcanons, but that's not all I write!), if anyone's interested! As fanfic writer appreciation day ends, I just thought I'd add some final thoughts.

Today, I watched some booktube videos (I sometimes do this when I'm bored or whatever to get recs.) At least two of the videos I clicked on had a quote like this: "This book was like fanfiction! Badly written fanfiction."

This is an attitude I see popping up a lot. Fanfiction is lame! It's all sucky! And look, I understand the need for constructive criticism, don't get me wrong. But I also think that sometimes readers and even our fellow authors can forget that fanfiction is a hobby. Many writers do not have an editor! Some are new to writing; some are trying to write in a new language. Others write whenever they have the time, and some struggle to write at all. The point is that they all do what they do because they love a piece of media. They also don't get paid for what they do! They are giving you content for free! This is a gentle reminder to please be kind to your local fanfic author.

If you write fanfiction, you are amazing. That is true whether you've been writing for a day or years. It's true if you've written many things, a few, or only one piece. Even if you've only written a story in your mind, you are still a writer. You are still amazing. 

Thank you to everyone who spread kindness to me and others on this day! I can not speak for everyone, but I deal with insecurity and negative thoughts about my writing. (I know you are sick of hearing this). Getting your sweet messages really meant a lot to me.

So thank you to my dear author friends who help make our community what it is. You deserve all the praise in the world.

Happy FWAD 2020!

I haven’t been around a whole lot, except for Fire Emblem stuff.  And my energy level is pretty low (I’m seriously exhausted), so I’m not going to do a full-on tag post like previous years.  My apologies.

Nevertheless - today is, indeed, Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day (or FWAD)!  And I just want to recognize all of you who pour so much creative energy into fics for the fandoms I’ve been in.

Lastly, remembering the ones we’ve lost during my time here - Ann (@thearendork), and Sue (@grrlgeek72).  They are both missed.

Hello all!

Just wanted to give a shoutout to the amazing fic authors on Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day. 

Thank you all for giving me hours, no days of reading pleasure. You’ve made me laugh, cry, scared and sometimes mad as hell while following the paths you’ve lead our favorite characters on. No matter where we went or how it ended, it was always a wonderful journey.

As a writer, I’d like to include within this day, a branch for Fanfic Reviewers Appreciation.

Without you guys, and your support/reviews/reblogs/fic reccing/flailing, the experience as a writer in this fandom wouldn’t be anything close to as great as it is.

You keep our muses well fed, and often give us the boosts we need to get through writers’ blocks and days when we’re maybe second guessing our writing abilities.
