congrats on 100 days for fix you!! im wondering if you own a cat? if so, were there any moments in the story that were based on interactions w your own cat?

I do! I have two cats. Pretty much any time Yoongi is annoyed is based on my cat Percy.

This is my favorite photo of him because I woke him up and he was so alarmed.

Also his preference for hiding under things is a Percy mannerism.

There’s a drabble coming up in November that was based on my grandma’s cat’s mannerisms. She was very good at knowing when you had cramps and cuddling them out of you.

There’s more. There’s so much more. A lot of the ear ticks and tail swishes were written with Percy’s personality in mind.

(I referenced Percy a lot but that’s because he’s a good grump and also because my other cat, Buddy, is essentially a giant ball of stupid. He’s cute and I love him, but his head is full of rocks.)

This is Buddy. Him’s a dumb dumb.

QUESTION FOR READER AND YOONGI: what are your favorite sleeping positions?

"Oh man. I used to sleep on my side."

"Really?" Yoongi sounds genuinely shocked to hear this.

"Yeah. Wonder what happened?"

He laughs, shoulders bouncing and tail swishing happily behind him. "Yeah I wonder."

She reaches over and lightly pushes Yoongi before scratching behind his ear. "I sleep on my back usually now. Someone" she looks pointedly at Yoongi, but she's not mad, or even annoyed. "likes to cuddle. So I usually wake up with him almost entirely on top of me."

100 Days of Fix You Celebration

As dear nuggs pointed out yesterday, we've officially passed 100 days of Fix You being posted. I love this series, and I'm so glad y'all are enjoying it, too.

Yoongi carefully accepts the kitten, his ears press into his head. He is confused. "I... they're... they're kittens? They're cute." He strokes the tiny kitten's forehead. "They shouldn't be removed from their mom for a while, though. It'll stunt their growth."

I have a question for Yoongi 👀

I’ve been curious, if someone were to ask you about your friend (reader), what would you say about her?

For a moment, Yoongi is quiet, his ear twitching as he thinks. Just when you think he's ignoring you, he opens his mouth.

"I appreciate everything she's done for me. She's...." He pauses, chewing on his lower lip. "She's helped me a lot. I'm looking forward to the future with her." He offers you a flat smile. "I'm not sure what else to say."

Yoongi, have you ever had a dream about Y/N? What was it about? If not, what was your most recent dream about? (Only if you wanna share)

Yoongi shudders slightly, and grabs for his tail. “Lots of dreams. Usually not very good ones. I don’t normally remember the nice ones.”

Yoongi hums, tail swishing behind him as he thinks. "I've never really thought about travelling. That could be fun," he muses softly. "For the most part, I'm content to stay at home. But... I don't know. I played the piano when I was a kitten. Seungri thought I could be some great virtuoso. And I was quite good for a 10-year-old, but it was short-lived. Maybe that? But don't tell her that. It's such an expensive hobby."

So hybrids share a lot of characteristics with their animal counterparts. The main ones are, of course, ears and tails that match with their breed and hair coloration. So, for example, Yoongi has the ears and tail of a black cat because he's a cat hybrid, and his hair is black to match his fur. Hybrids retain their human ears, but for the most part, these are ineffective just because the animal ears pick up on so much more.

But the physical characteristics aren't the only things hybrids have:

Increased healing abilities due to alterations in their dna

Heightened hearing, so delicate they can hear heartbeats and slight changes in breathing

Heightened sense of smell, so they can smell changes in hormones and pheromones, as well as territorial scents

Many hybrids have the eyes of their animals, so Yoongi's pupils dilate like a cat's do to take in more light, and viper hybrids have vertically slitted pupils

Many hybrids can transform into their animals at will, but some can't

Hybrids have scent glands in various places on their body so that they can mark their territory with their scent by rubbing against it. The scent can be made stronger with saliva--through actions like licking--and, in the case of scenting humans or another hybrid, can be made permanent through biting during intimate moments (this includes sex, but sex is certainly not the only time this permanent "scenting" can occur--see below)

Hybrids mate for life, even if their animal counterparts do not. Hybrids claim their mates through the permanent "scenting" practice as described in the bullet above. The hybrid senses when conditions are right for the claiming bite--there's no set circumstance like 'oh, we're going to have sex and then this person is my mate,' it's all about hormones and pheromones and feeling right. Hybrids can form mate-bonds with any species. But...

Hybrids cannot breed with other species. This includes humans. If a hybrid were to want children, they would have to breed with a same-species hybrid (cat-cat, wolf-wolf, etc.)

Hybrids naturally create packs of people they feel safe with, whether that is other hybrids or humans. Unlike animal packs, hybrid packs are inter-species (so a wolf hybrid is just as happy to form a pack with a viper hybrid as he would be a panther hybrid).
