I have zero clue what’s going on with Shuu ship week or whatnot but today is music day so here’s a couple Shuu ships I like with their themes with no explanation cause I’m lazy (I don’t know if this counts for anything but MUSIC!!!)

Well, my favorite for sure is the Isohaya 💕 I just love it too much

Second place is TouRin/YaHaya, which is very close to Isohaya in the "how much I like the ship" aspect, I love their friendship and the couple even more!

Now… well, don't judge me! Almost all of the ships below are either a bit of crackship (although not completely) or came about by accident!

Let's go:

Third place is NagiYuki/Nagikan

I don't know how this happened, but they are a serious thing for me now and have a high chance of appearing frequently on my blog

Gakushuu x Akari Yukimura (not Kaede)

I think they would meet sooner or later, and they could be good friends, and after they both mature, they could be a great couple, although I prefer it to be platonic, but I still think it's interesting to explore that dynamic.

The ship below may be considered crackship, but it has a place in my heart:

Karukano/Karmokano Karma x Okano

First of all, I will explain how it came about, because I feel obligated to justify this crackship, I have a friend who watched AssClass about 2 years ago and never watched it again. I was talking to him about my ships and he started to say that his favorite was Karma and Okano, that he liked their dynamic, I thought the ship was very different, but as it was a multishipper I liked it. At that point, the class started and we had to pay attention and because of my study situation, I had nothing to do in that class and I started thinking about their dynamic and I got attached. And the funniest thing is that during the break that day I found out that he confused Okano with Okuda.

And there are two other ships that came from other blogs that I like a lot, which are:

ChiHo (Chiba x Kaho)

Gakuyuki (Gakushuu x Kanzaki)

But what are Ren's motives here? Is he trying to get his best bud to realize his feelings for Yukiko or does Ren actually want her all to himself?

So... I don’t see it as a serious 'best friends fighting over a girl' cliché either. Instead, I view Ren’s behavior more as him being a 'ragebaiter' for Gakushuu. In my headcanon, he’s like a mix of Karma’s love for stirring the pot and Maehara’s playboy tendencies. If he acts like he’s sulking about Gakushuu 'stealing' his interest, it’s honestly just him teasing his best friend. It’s all in good fun and never truly malicious.

​I think because Ren is arguably the nicest among the Virtuosos, even more than Gakushuu himself. From my perspective, he is more tolerate to Class E and don't really arogant to them... while yeah... even if he still a d*ckhead.

For me, Ren can read Gakushuu easily. Especially when it comes to romance, Ren’s intuition is sharp. Even though he’s known as a player, there is a certain irony in the fact that those who treat relationships as a game often understand the mechanics of attraction better than those who are too serious about it.

​In my mind, Ren actually acts as a vital bridge between Gakushuu and Yukiko. While Gakushuu is perfection incarnate and can easily analyze Yukiko’s surface-level interests, Ren is the one who understands the nuances of human connection. He’s essentially Gakushuu’s sounding board and reluctant advisor.

​And regarding to Yukiko, even though she clearly isn’t interested in Ren romantically, I think there’s definitely room for a unique friendship there. Given Yukiko’s gentle nature and their shared love for literature, Ren is perfectly positioned to be the one to nudge them together. It’s a great dynamic.

Gakushuu might be the one who understands everything, but Ren is the one who understands people. It really highlights how a specialist—someone who focuses on the 'art' of connection can sometimes grasp the intricacies of romance much better than someone who tries to master everything at once. It’s such a clever way to keep the Big 5 dynamic engaging!

As for the Ren, Rio, and Karma trio you ask about... I love how they’ve basically turned into Gakushuu’s personal nightmare! My headcanon for them actually started with Ren. I like to imagine him 'stalking' Gakushuu’s dates, partly out of genuine concern that his best friend might be way too stiff and uptight when he’s with Yukiko.

​Since Ren is essentially the 'Virtuoso version of Karma' but with Maehara’s playboy flair, he can’t resist stirring the pot. He’s constantly teasing Gakushuu, even if it usually ends with Gakushuu giving him extra student council busywork as punishment. It’s a hilarious cycle!

​Then, adding Rio and Karma to the mix just makes it perfect. Rio, to me, is the school’s (mostly E class's) information broker. She’s always in the loop, and she loves using that info for teasing. And of course, Karma wouldn’t be Karma if he didn’t jump at the chance to mess with his favorite rival. Once Rio and Karma teamed up, it was game over for Gakushuu.

​I see this trio working in perfect harmony when they target Gakushuu. They don't really go after Yukiko:) Instead, they love waiting for the exact moment Gakushuu finishes a date or drops her off, only to ambush him and relentlessly tease him for the entire walk home. It’s the ultimate group effort to break his cool, collected facade!

​I’ve actually been debating whether to add Koro-sensei to this chaotic group, but I’m still stuck on how he’d react. Given that he was always pushing for Yukiko and Sugino, I’m still trying to figure out if he’d be supportive or if he’d just try to stir up even more awkwardness! Do you have any thoughts on how he’d handle the situation?

Who knew Ren was such a shipper? And for him to team up with Karma of all people?? That extra council work is very much deserved.

Gakushuu being Karma's favorite rival implies he has more rivals. I can see Yukiko being his game rival, and whenever she kicks his demonic ass, she sends a screenshot or pic (if it's a game machine) to Gakushuu to use as teasing material. Gakushuu has them stored neatly in a little folder called A.S.S. which stands for "Akabane's Shameful Scores" (It was later changed to "Akabane Getting Pwned" after some of his classmates saw his desktop and thought Gakushuu was actually dirty minded. Seo's teasing did not help one bit.)

As for Koro-sensei, I already said he'd quickly go into paparazzi mode. A romantic development is a romantic development, even if it wasn't one of his ships, and the guy has a bestseller to write! He'd also be forbidden from joining the group by Karasuma (for obvious reasons), so he'd rely on Rio for some intel for a price (no homework, taking her to a country of her choice, etc.) He'd probably try to comfort Sugino, but the moment Rio walks in with a tip on where Gakushuu and Yukiko's next date will be, the camera is out and the octopus is gone! Obviously, this makes Sugino feel even worse, but hey, at least he tried, right?

Honestly, after looking through your pages, I'm curious... What made you love Ship Gakuyuki so much? If you're still loves it of course...

It because I think their personality... their vibes will be match in certain ways. Even though some people maybe think that they were not a good match, since we know they don't have any particular canon scene together that just two of them talking.

In all honesty, it started with me wondering how Yukiko and Gakushuu would interact because I felt like they could relate to each other’s family struggles.

And then I started shipping them XD

They’re both smart, good-looking, responsible individuals who deal with pressure from their well-respected families that ultimately leads to rebellion. They’re ambitious about their careers, with Yukiko becoming a certified caregiver while still in university and Gakushuu starting his own company pretty much straight outta MIT.

However, they are still pretty different from each other. Yukiko started out as a kind, but passive girl with low self-confidence, who learned the importance of self acceptance and moving forward. She also became a little more assertive, especially when dealing with the men giving her grief, as shown when she flipped off her father, stood up to Takaoka, scared off Ren, and crushed bullies in video games. And that’s not mentioning her terrifyingly iconic performance during the civil war arc.

Gakushuu on the other hand, started off as an arrogent, manipulative, competitive jerk who saw everyone else–including his own classmates–as beneath him, though he wasn’t the type to deploy underhanded tactics like his father. He later grew to realize just how flawed his father’s teaching methods were and that he does in fact care about his classmates, to the point where he swallows his pride and asks Class E for help. He also came to respect 3E as worthy rivals and (reluctantly) admitted that his battles against them made his own abilities grow by leaps and bounds.

All this would make for an interesting dynamic worthy of being explored even if we aren’t taking the romantic route. They’ll definitely disagree on some things, but not to the point of head-butting (especially given Yukiko’s nature), but they can learn so much from one another. Yukiko can teach Gakushuu the importance of kindness, empathy, and letting loose every once in a while Gakushuu can teach her the importance of networking, utilizing family status and connections, and forgoing niceties in certain situations.

But since this is me, we ARE taking the romantic route. So buckle up, fellow gakuyuki enjoyer, because we have:

Will there be some people who think they’re not a good match? Yes. Will that stop me from shipping them? No. If I like it, I will ship it. It’s as simple as that, just as it is with all rarepairs or ships in general. What’s important is to have fun and create the type of content you want to see.

Hey, um, so it’s been a while, but first, have a redraw. Old versions at the bottom of this post (+ a sketchier sketch of this, as I quite like it. I think it’s mainly ‘cause I still haven’t found a way to draw eye smile wrinkles that I’m satisfied with, ackk).

I think I could’ve done a touch better, but I’m also a touch out of practice, so I’m not gonna fuss. Am just gonna be pleased with my progress—especially compared to the very first version. My somewhat recent disillusionment with my art style (yes, I kinda had another bout)? *Poof*, disappeared into pleasing contentment 😌

But, uhhh, yeah. Not my longest disappearance, sure? But I also disappeared just before that, too ^^; A large part of it had to with there being 3 weddings during December/early January—I might make a post about it ‘cause of some gifts I drew. We’ll see.

After finishing those gifts, I didn’t have much if any time to draw, and then I felt lacking, and yada yada yada, I’ve repeated this tale more than once. But yeah, I have been drawing quite a bit since around halfway/late January, though it’s mostly OC stuff. And not fandom OC stuff—original work ones—but they aren’t nearly ready for showing just yet.

I just got a random spurt a week or two ago to draw other stuff again, so I’ve got quite a few sketches to post. Ramadan’s just around the corner, and I take my planned break for it, so I was considering posting until after it… but I didn’t want to wait too long to post my annual redraw. So, while I’ll still be taking a drawing break for Ramadan, I plan on posting my sketches every few days. They’ll most probably bleed into Ramadan—perhaps even a good chunk in; we shall see—and I do plan on drawing more sketches just before it starts anyhow. I should at least get a Yukiko birthday piece done beforehand.
