I want to clear some things up: 1. I am not a psychic. Though I dabble in divination and find it fun, it is not my default to try to predict the future. If I do, the caveat is that this it's for entertainment purposes only and that people have free will and agency to shape their lives how they see fit. 2. No one knows you better than you know yourself. I use tarot personally to explore my thought processes, problem solve and strategize my next steps. During my longer readings I use a similar format for my clients. 3. I explore interpersonal relationships, dreams, thoughts and feelings. I use tarot to explore why things might be the way they are because everything that we do, say, think, feel, it's all connected by our personal narrative, your life's journal. 4. And that's what I mean when I say "Gamify Your Life", that's what I mean when I say my approach to tarot is a little different than the norm. 5. Yes there are hacks but there are also people who love self-reflection and study and those are the readers you want to engage with, and yes, pay them for their services. Even though this form of contemplation and independent thought can be wildly helpful, it is looked down on by much of the intellectual community (cc: @nytimes_arts). If you found a reading to be entertaining, thought-provoking, healing, interesting, pay what you can, esp if your friend is a small business owner (we are taxed out the ass). 4. There are plenty of people who just love cards. The tarot sub reddit is a great place if you're in that camp. Some of us in this community like to make decks, some like to collect them, others just like to play with them. 💌 Gamify Your Life is here! 💌 2018 was focused on parties and special events, 2019 is focused on digging deeper into private readings and how tarot can be used over an extended period of time to gauge our personal development and gather greater insights. When I started writing my tarot manifesto this summer, I realized how I wasn't writing just another book on tarot -- I was developing whole new styles of gameplay, and finding the words for all of the different styles of readings I've been offering for years (which if you're interested, can be found on my website). It's amazing to think that one card deck can be used in so many ways. Tarot, at its best, can dig into your soul and pull out your very best self. At its worst, it's a party trick, which can be so much fun but equally heart breaking if you're caught off guard by your ~*feelings*~ which can be uncomfortable despite being an amazing catalyst for healing. I'm being called to go deeper with people privately to explore themes presented in tarot readings and how we can uncover more about ourselves than we thought possible. Tarot allows us a way to restructure our thoughts into the most positive place, and in that way, Gamify Your Life is a radical approach on positive thinking, turning your life into one big extended board game. Every issue we are presented can be faced with dignity and ease, every dream can be found and explored, every person can create the life that they've always wanted. It all starts with a game.
