To be a smidge fair to Gao Tu's doctor...he called the police for essentially a Wellness Check and then the police called Gao Ming instead of just...going by his apartment to see if he was ok.
I think he only came to that decision because Gao Tu has been his patient for many years and as far as we know was very consistent with appointments. That same patient disappeared for 2 weeks while in the middle of a high risk pregnancy because of his already high risk pheromonal disorder. He also knows Gao Tu is self-harming through abusing suppressants. Not fully absolving him of responsibility but I just understand why the doctor felt like he had to call at least the police after Gao Tu disappeared and missed his appointments with no notice.
I do have questions about the "Omega Protection Agency." Like, did they have Gao Ming listed as an emergency contact really or does the agency not track that? I could see a scenario where Gao Tu didn't file anything with them or is keeping things about his abusive childhood secret. We saw how much he skirted questions from his doctor with regards to why he is taking so many suppressants in that first episode. I can definitely believe that he simply is keeping his pain and his father's abuse fully a secret.
I can also see a scenario where this government agency actually doesn't provide protections for omegas with regards to their families. For example, they only have procedures in place for protecting Omegas from non-related Alphas, spousal abuse, or from workplace discrimination but nothing in place for family abuse.
This whole thing is a commentary on the failures of institutions to protect marginalized groups and I wish this had all started in ep 13 so we could explore it more fully.
