A string of white sandy beaches stretches along the western side of the Gargano from San Menaio to Rodi Garganico. Rodi Garganico was originally a Greek settlement. The clue is in the name 'Rodi' which is derived from 'Rhodes'. It is a highly popular summer resort, with frequent ferries to the Tremiti islands. Come October and it is dead quiet, so I was able to enjoy myself in its historic centre characterised by white-washed houses without all the noise and mayhem.
