A delicious combination of savory, sweet, and garlicky flavors can be found in this crispy tofu with molasses and garlic sauce. Perfect baking results in a crispy outside and tender inside of the tofu. With its blend of molasses, garlic, and soy sauce, the sauce gives depth to this delicious dish that works well for any meal.
Ingredients: 1 block tofu, pressed and sliced into cubes. 3 cloves garlic, minced. 2 tablespoons soy sauce. 1 tablespoon molasses. 1 tablespoon rice vinegar. 1 tablespoon cornstarch. 2 tablespoons water. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Salt and pepper to taste. Green onions, thinly sliced for garnish.
Instructions: Set the oven's temperature to 400F, or 200C. To make the sauce, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, molasses, cornstarch, water, and minced garlic in a bowl. Tofu cubes should be evenly coated after being tossed in a separate bowl with vegetable oil, salt, and pepper. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, spread out the tofu cubes, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through, or until the tofu is crispy and golden brown. Heat a small amount of oil in a skillet over medium heat. When the sauce thickens, add it and cook for two to three minutes. Toss gently to coat the baked tofu cubes in the sauce after adding them to the skillet. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot. Have fun!
