It’s nearing the end of the year and that means the return of my top twenty-five songs of the year and my favorite K-Pop songs of the year!
This is sort of impromptu since I’m going to sleep shortly because of work in the morning, but I just had to write this one out because I’d forget why I loved this song in the morning and I can’t let that get away.
Gary’s evolution as a rapper is...interesting. In songs like Can’t Break Away Boy, Can’t Leave Girl (or whatever the hell it’s called) and Turned Off The TV he just seems to lack proper flow. At first I thought that was his style. But, as we can see in this song, he has learned that there is such a thing as flow. His lyrics are on point and it compliments the song rather than having two things (the instrumental and lyrics) fight each other.
For me, I love this song because it’s a confession:
I like you I like you
Tied in with lust:
I like your ass
And we all do it. The good girls/boys and the bad girls/boys. Maybe it’s because I’m old now and I don’t really care for rejection. I’ll tell a girl if she looks pretty if I think she looks pretty especially a girl that’s like a bajillion light years out of my league. However, before I get eaten alive, I will mention that I know the line between complimenting someone and being a complete creeper (e.g.” Wow, I like your makeup!” vs. “NICE ASS GIRL” come on bruh srsly wtf do you think she’s gonna say to you man).
Sometimes you creep into lust without realizing it. I think, in all honesty, this song is something that we can all relate to. Whether it is often or not doesn’t really matter - it’s something we can all understand.
