Bob Dylan's opus is vast, which is why it shouldn't surprise us that he got covered so many times. However, there are some of his songs he originated that were officialy done by others first. True, the productivity of his 60's remains a stuff of legends, we could claim that he basically rivals The Great American Songbook in terms of output. One case of his work rate appears on Nico's Chelsea Girl, where it sounds defiantly melancholic. If you compare it to Dylan's version, you notice he's more jubilant than her. Her voice makes the entire composition incredibly disconsolate, even though her musical backing wants to be encouraging. This clash present us with a desolation that continues to be hidden among the festivities.
