Ice Castles (1978). An inexperienced yet naturally gifted ice skater makes a spectacular debut in the skating world before encountering an event that could possibly derail her hopes and dreams.
Melodrama with a capital 'M', Ice Castles leans into it's own sugaryness and it works as often as it doesn't. The result is something a little tooth-rotting, but if you're in the right mood for it, it can scratch an itch. Plus the ice skating scenes are some of the best directed ones I've seen. 6.5/10.
