Sunny Berlin. I miss you! . . . . Before I started the trip, I had a specific journey in mind, I wanted to know about the dark period of Germany between 1933-1947 when they were under the Nazi rule. I had read a ton of material about the same and made numerous visits while I was there, trying to find just how could a country get over such a horrid past. Germany proved how, at every stage. They are still coping. The city of Berlin is one example. Whether it is the museum or memorial of torture, Charlie Checkpoint, the Berlin wall, or this gate, Brandenburger Tor, each monument spoke a million volumes of what the city had been through until early 1990s. It is truly worth appreciating and learning from. If you visit, try to look beyond the party coffee and generally happy scenes of the city. Their history changed my point of view about many things. The only thing I missed was the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam.
