A Department of Mystery || Edgar and Gavin
Location: Lingerie Department Time: 1:10pm Date: July 21st, 1978
Colours swirled and twisted, a vibrant pink causing sun spots that blocked up his vision. The patterns and designs were enough to send his mind spiraling in confusion. He couldn't piece two thoughts together. The unusual items before him had him thinking a mile a minute, trying to figure out every use and function.
How he had ended up in this place to begin with, he had no idea. All he had wanted was to do a little hands-on research, get out of the office for a change, and now he was lost and distracted.
A whispered giggle from behind him sent him ducking behind a nearby clothing rack, as a pair of Muggle girls sauntered idly by, unaware of the grown man hiding underneath a pair of silk pants. He watched the girls admire a rather interestingly cut night gown, both in fear and curiosity. Fear that he would found and curious as to what these Muggle girls found so intriguing about such minimal outfits.
Lately, Edgar had been researching Muggles quite a bit, interested by the differing patterns in behaviour from witches and wizards. One of the things he had come across was their strange sense of fashion. Becoming more interested in the subject, he decided to dress himself the best he could in Muggle clothing and visit a local mall.
Everything had been going well as he wandered around the shops, observing the people and the clothes and taking notes. However, it had gone downhill when he found himself surrounded by a selection of rather revealing women's clothing after zoning out momentarily.
He had been looking around for a door, or a safe place to apparate, for half an hour now, but kept having to duck between aisles to avoid being seen. The place was surprisingly busy - busier than Edgar would have expected with such an interesting line of clothing garnishing the walls - and he had the strange urge to remain hidden despite the fact he doubted he would meet anyone he knew.
So here he was, peeking between lacy undergarments, probably making himself out to be complete pervert and desperately wishing he could apparate away. As he watched the women wander out of sight he straightened himself out and went to hurry away.
However, as he turned he found a man looking in his direction a few feet away. There was a funny feeling in his chest and his face felt ready to burst into flame when he realized he recognized the man. What were the chances? How had he actually managed to run into a fellow wizard in a place like this?
Edgar gave the man an awkward wave and tried to smile, he might as well stop hiding now, seeing as the person had obviously noticed him. How did he always manage to get himself so completely lost in ridiculous places all of the time?
