Byler is going to be endgame, despite what the majority of byler fans are thinking right now. But, at what cost?!

The writers want it to be one of the main plot twists due to their ego, but this results in queer people feeling ridiculed. Truly a shame. I wish queer love would not be a plot device.

To make this plot twist happen, they sidelined and under developed Mike's character for 7 episodes... With the side-effect Will's coming-out scene feeling impersonal.

For the Byler doubters:

They showed Jonathan and Nancy working through their unspoken issues from S4. The same will happen for Mike and Will, the resolution to the painting lie. They have also shown that El and Mike are friends with the "friends don't lie".

The coming out scene was a misdirect for the plot twist, but that's not an excuse for its poor execution, everyone already mentioned the ridiculousness of him opening up to everyone, not just his close friends and family. What should have been an empowering moment, turned into Will coming out, because he was scared Vecna was going to use it against him. Straight people are eating this up as a reclamation of his agency and identity, while all we see as queer people is a pressured and terrified queer kid forced to come out. Him downplaying his feelings for Mike and saying he was like Robin's Tammy to him was a gut punch honestly.

YOU THERE! Do you like cursed, disabled, gay dragons? Of course you do! Child of the Dragon has an all queer central cast of cursed shapeshifting dragons and one of the POVs is a gay chronically ill ex-assassin 👀 seeing as it's disability pride month and I am a disabled author with a disabled MC....👀 so 👀 

the character in question is a part-time mobility aid user like I am and experiences symptoms based off my own experiences with POTS, migraine, and chronic pain! He's undiagnosed because I was undiagnosed when I was first writing him and it didn't feel right to add a diagnosis in later, and in world, the cause is magical in nature, so it makes sense why he hasn't seen a doctor about it yet. There's also another POV character who is questioning-aspec and kinda sort of ended up with my anxiety. It's not as prevalent or obvious, but once you see it, you can't UNsee it.

Anyway, I think it's pretty good and think that tumblr might think it's neat, so... if anyone is interested, here are a bunch of links (US store links because that what I have easiest access to, but I know for a fact it's available internationally!)

This book 😭 this series 😭

I am so emotional. I absolutely loved the direction this book went. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone but it was just perfect to me. I loved all the complications that arose, the unexpected role reversal, the things both Luc and Oliver had to face about themselves all these years later.

I loved Jaz a lot. She was such a wonderful addition to this universe. As was Spud.

I loved that every single side character got growth and page time and were a part of things while acknowledging that growing up and building separate lives means you’re not there for everything anymore.

So anyway yeah I’m in a puddle of my feels and this is a barely coherent mess of a review.

don't think i will ever stop talking about heated rivalry and the immaculate storytelling and the way the show added to the books!

shane apologising to his mother, saying he tried really hard bc he did try really hard to stop himself, tried to like girls, tried not to fall for ilya, and his mother going "you have nothing to apologise for, look at me, i'm sorry i made you feel like you couldn't tell me" like i'm bawling, you're bawling, we're all bawling crying our eyes out bc we KNOW how shane feels and we are healing together with shane when yuna tells him there's no shame in feeling this way and that it's on her for not creating a more safe environment to express himself !!!! sfusrusurstisitx

I loved this book so much! It felt like a really good place to end the Elite Protection Services series. Getting to see Jackson finally meet his person was so satisfying! He was just so smitten with Day. And Day was so prickly about everything and still so incredibly head-over-heels for Jackson from the moment they met. Their chemistry was off the charts and they were down so bad for each other in all the best ways. I also kind of loved how the whole stalker/murder mystery played out and how it brought the entire extended cast of the series together. It was so nice to see all of them again! They were one of my favorite found families to read about. And with all of that being said, Infuriating is getting four and a half stars!

My thoughts on ‘is out gay mac bad rep’ is honestly like…wgat do you want here?

This is a show where every character is a bastard. Sure they have some good in there, they are humans with flaws on display more often than not. Frankly if Dennis is ever properly outed I feel like his history is more concerning.

Its also what makes them interesting. Why are they this way? Could they ever learn? I've done fanfic so I've dove into that.

My concern in queer rep is every year it seems to halve cuz half the shows are cancelled. Can't show range of characters and types if they don't exist.

Outside of Dennis Mac has referenced a varied gay sex life we haven't seen. Three men inside him (mentioned to the priest), immediately falling for a hot priest, then kinda liking ugly priest who turns out to be a pedo.

If you want to bitch about his characterization it should be that once out he narrowed in on Dennis and we have been given no reason or explanation on this (nvm the 15 year gay dance they did before he came out). If they ever finally address the elephant in the room it may pay off quite nice. Even if they don't come on…Dennis isn't clean hands there either.

They're both idiots (but Dennis pulls it off better, even tho Mac is more confident). They both were really weird about sex/dating with women. They both have hit on the other one when the other guy wasn't into it (Dennis and his baby boying).

So yeah Macs a bit of a creep who when he came out as gay immediately (on camera anyway) became like waaaay into Dennis. And Dennis plays it off (right down to grooming are u fucking kidding me Dennis) and turns it down but he keeps living with Mac even tho his name is the only one on the lease and everything in the apartment is his.

Macs hitting on him and Dennis goes k you're my gay lover to my baby mama. Which Mac took a bit tooo real. Trust me these freaky men (who are freaky weirdos regardless of sexuality) are in a deep mind fuck of 30 years and they fucking love it.

That said why (almost) everyone finds the pride ep exciting is because its oddly heartfelt, while Mac says these stereotypes don't fit him and he can't come out yet cuz he has to do it this very specific way. The reason its exciting and touching is because this show sometimes does that, but its not the standard plotline. The standard plot line is usually idiot assholes scheming and plotting and failing.

So I don't think mac is bad gay rep, but I also don't think he should be like the standard gay rep because this show is not a realistic portrayal of most peoples lives who don't have the last name trump.

I'm agender and pan and I recognize its just my opinion. But seriously I think we need more queer rep in general including more queer assholes, more queer fails, etc. If mac suddenly became a good person succeeding at dating when he came out he wouldn't be mac. This show is about losers.

On this Pride Month I would just like to say that Black Sails really made all of its four seasons and 38 episodes into an expression of gay rage against homophobic brutality and the unbearable loss of love, especially in that tragic context, and that’s still one of the most breathtaking things that any TV show has done, ever.

IT'S TIME… Let me introduce you to three main characters of my upcoming adult epic science fantasy novel, The Protector and the Annihilation! These gorgeous artworks are by @nyanyandraws.

This epic science fantasy novel is part of the Blue Horizon series. The Protector and the Annihilation will be about three generations of alchemy-oriented mages upon a faraway planet obsessed with ancient Earth (our era), and their troubles across thousands of years.

A Kickstarter for it is in the works and will debut in the next months!

Without further ado, here are our three protagonists, with two lovers and one son, upon that faraway planet where we lay our scene...

RANVIR CHANDRANI: A young man who reaches for the stars. He comes off rather confident, and is reliable at creating a formidable atmosphere when at a friend’s side. He may or may not be attempting to befriend Armando. Wherever he goes, he faces what he needs without ever faltering. But…
