Sometimes people look at gay guys (or people they perceive as Gay**) as being politically unsophisticated because we generally do not talk about homophobia in a particularly Discourse-y way and they jump to this conclusion that it's because we're generally more privileged, benefit more for patriarchy, have a closer proximity to heterosexuality, or are just generally less radical in some inherent way. Obviously this is y'know, homophobic, but also I think what happens is it's easier to tread then having to dismantle people's own discomfort with us and to be frank, their own resentment and jealous over our assumed "validity" compared to other queer people. It's all very interesting.
