Even though she’d known he was going to get her flowers, Callie pretended to have absolutely no clue why he dipped out of the house far earlier than he’d normally leave. In fact, she welcomed the play surprise, because what he didn’t know was that she’d gotten him something too. It seemed only fair, that their first date in their new home be commemorated with presents. He was going to try to spoil her, and while she’d never deny him that opportunity, she wanted to make it clear right out the gate that the spoiling would be mutual. So when Calum came home she was waiting for him, hands behind her back, a small wrapped box clutched against her palms.
“You took so long I worried you got lost,” she greeted, stepping forward and rising on her toes to kiss him. “Was about to send out a search party and everything.”
