San Francisco is full of so many great places to explore, and I have to admit that Crissy Field is one that I’ve passed by a few times but never found time to check out. In this 2003 episode of California’s Golden Coast Huell discovers the past, present, and future of this piece of land along San Francisco Bay. Crissy Field has become a wonderful getaway for city dwellers, so close to downtown and yet full of new life, with wonderful views of the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. You can learn more about the continuing restoration of this urban gem by clicking here.
In the premiere episode of California’s Golden Coast, Huell learns about an inspiring success story. Located at the Presidio in San Francisco, once a U.S. Army outpost and cornerstone of military operations on the West Coast, Crissy Field became the most significant site of aviation development in the western United States in the early part of the 20th Century.
Today, it is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and has been transformed from 100 acres of asphalt surrounded by chain link fence to a magnificent shoreline, which includes tidal marshes, pristine beaches and grassy green fields.

Grey Cup 101 - Chapter 1: In Football As In Life
By now you’ve heard all about it. National networks and sports writers reporting on the frigid festival week festivities, locals and visitors mingling with sports legends, Riderville and Darian’s surprise visit Friday night, and finally, a flooded Green Mile following a triumphant championship game by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Grey Cup 101. This is how we do it. For a province whose economy is expected to continue its upward swing, with real GDP forecast to expand 3.5 percent this year - more than twice the national average - and its two major cities rounding out the top five centers leading growth in the country, Grey Cup Champs is a nice add-on. But back to ‘the week that was’… I read a number of comments following the Gibson’s Finest CFL Player Awards dinner last Thursday. Players from outside the province were aghast that the evening felt more like a Saskatchewan Roughriders pep rally than a league event. Henry Burris said he’d never been more embarrassed. He may regret that statement today. `Hennnnnnn-rrrrrrryyyy…” While I’m fairly certain it’s not the first time this event has felt focused on the ‘home-team’, particularly a host Grey Cup team, I would guess that many people may have been unprepared for a boldly and openly proud Saskatchewan. A ‘braggart’ even? I think what I saw this week is a province that has come into its own. We are proud of who we are. Unapologetically proud. Gone are the days when we squealed and called all our friends to say The Simpsons had referred to Moose Jaw and hey, did you hear it? Or Letterman said “Regina”! Were you watching? I taped it on the VCR, I can play it back for you! Now we’re not so surprised that Martin Short was here. Why wouldn’t he be? And we kind of expected Tom Hanks to respond to us by replacing his Ticats toque with a Rider one, simply at our insistent command. "O Canada" with an electric guitar and the beloved Serena Ryder? Of course. Cheerleaders in parkas, Hedley in lumberjack gear, and spiralling snowmobiles with fire blasting in the forefront? Damn right. Because that’s who we are. We are Canadian and we are Saskatchewan, and we are comfortable on a national, and even (gasp), world stage. We are serious and we work hard. We are determined and we are tenacious. And because we are all of these things, we are also able to not take ourselves too seriously. We have fun and are silly. And no one, no one, is better at laughing at themselves. That is why this week was so great. Because the people of this province know that, like the Riders, we all strive to do our best, no matter what our individual goals may be. And that if we pull together and work with each other through both the really great times and the impossibly challenging ones, we can make things happen. Together, we are unstoppable. Together, the little guy steps out from the shadows and throws aside his shyness. This is why we love the Saskatchewan Roughriders. They represent all of us and the value of getting back up when all seems lost. And weeks like this - even if they only come a sparse four times over 101 years - prove to us that we are right to never stop hoping, believing, and proudly pushing on. Go Riders. Go Saskatchewan.
ahh all the cheerleaders are so cute I love this

BEST BIRTHDAY EVER OR BEST BIRTHDAY EVER???
Strive - Usapang GC 101
