It isn’t often Rey allows herself to be chased by her own bed, be it from physical or emotional threats, but the nightmare that had trapped her had made her startle so hard she’d awakened, and she couldn’t bear the thought of being alone with it.

Now she doesn’t need to, she has Sarah and that is the thought that sends her running to the other’s bed, slipping in like a child might. The soft warmth that envelops her as she crawls under the blanket, the source of it a friendly, sweet anchor, is enough to chase away the last of Rey’s chills and she settles with a soft sigh, holding onto Sarah’s hand the way she had once held onto her little handmade doll.

“It was a bad dream,” she confessed, voice hushed to fit the dreamlike atmosphere, afraid to break it. “I needed... to not be alone.” It’s true enough, there’s no one who makes her feel quite so real and solid and significant as Sarah.

He takes one without need for any further prompting ( he was going to take one anyway regardless so really ) and raises a bemused eyebrow at the somewhat amateur icing job of a rather darling pumpkin before taking a bite.   He smiles cheekily. ❝ Well done Sarah, it’s quite good. ❞

Pale brows shoot up at her words. He knows well and good they’re meant as an taunt but he does not take them as such. That she remembers his words so well, that she would dare to speak them to him-- it’s like lightening. Once again she plays with something she’s too foolish to understand. His Sarah, so ready to LEAP but not to THINK. A slim gloved hand comes to the small of her back then meets her side as he encircles her waist and draws her to him. His gaze unmasked, piercing and flaying. ❝ When will you learn Sarah ? ❞
