The statement left Jack in a stunned quiet, and it took several moments for him to regain the power of speech. Words simply failed to process in a brain quite unable to comprehend the issue it face. Different emotions fought for dominance in his mind and heart; confusion, sorrow, resentment, fear. But laced through it all was the underlying sense of relief. And perhaps he didn’t need anything more. Just the words.

“I never...wanted to blame you.”

“Artemis?“ she asks gently, looking at him in a knowing way. She has asked this question many times, to herself and of herself. “What stems this question tonight my dear? What ails you?“ She settles beside him, intent to listen.

Tooth surveyed her surroundings in silence. The only thing she could really do in her gilded cage. Faces came and went so often, with none of them holding warmth or comfort. A girl could go mad recalling so many looks that told over and over that she was nothing more than a rare oddity. No better than how they looked at animals. Her scanning eyes stopped at one face, the almost... familiarity of him giving her pause. But surely she had never seen him before, the stout little man with a soft round face. She would have remembered the look in his eyes. Gentle. It almost frightened her with how different it was to the rest. The chains linked to her wrists clicked as she shifted, drawing her knees closer to her chest.

he stilled in the silence left behind those words, bathed in the pale moonlight. despite not having any sort of physical form the light seemed to hold him firm & gentle, a hold of a promiseso strong it reverberated until it bounced off the stars as somethingstronger than a wish. the Pooka could only chuckle, a soft noise in the pale silence as he turned a vibrant gaze skywards. 

    “Ain’t that what Ah’m supposed ta say?”
