Malaysia’s youth have power they won’t use
GE14 Malaysia Election photos, mostly likely historic at this point given how my country finally toppled sixty-plus years of rule from Barisan Nasional which is AMAZING because this year, they did EVERYTHING they could to suppress voters including; - Setting voting on a weekday in hopes of a lower turnout. - Postal ballots were sent to voters as late as 9am ON THE DAY OF VOTING ITSELF. - Redelineation just before election. - Outstation voters were told to stay home and not bother coming to vote it was ‘too much trouble for them’. They took potshots at the opposition party as well including jailing the leader, forcing the role upon a 92yr old chairman whose face was cut out of every billboard and poster because he wasn’t the ‘designated’ head of the party. They tried every fucking thing they could and they failed in a way that was unprecedented because everyone had has fucking enough and the youth voted for the first time in full force and crowdfunding and carpooling through soc med and excel sheets was set up for those who couldn’t afford and/or had no means of going back to vote. People rushed home from as far Aus and UK on any last-minute flight to vote and those who couldn’t were paying DHL 200 bucks for priority shipping or organising runners across several international airports and holding up “Are you heading to Kuala Lumpur?” signboards just to get sealed packages of votes back home by the 5pm deadline. It was mad magic, it was a people who’re slow to anger or really rise to any occasion but they had hope in one hand and spite in the other and they proved that democracy hadn’t stagnated in this country. I’m so proud gsgsgdghffff.
Official results from Malaysia's national election show the opposition alliance led by the country's former authoritarian ruler Mahathir Mohamad has won a majority in parliament, ending the 60-year rule of the National Front. The Election Commission says the opposition has so far won 112 seats and the National Front has 76 seats.

Malaysia’s 7th Prime Minister :)
26 years of my life, I’ve never been proud enough to say I’m from Malaysia. But as of today, 9th May 2018, I am proud to say I am a Malaysian! A better future and a better country tomorrow!
If any of my followers are Malaysians of voting age, I'm so glad that y'all are brave enough to enact change!
