Gears weren't all born DURING the Crusades, though...

Most modern Gears are either natural-born Gears (like Sin), or they are modern humanoid conversions (similar to Testament's case, and Ky's... erm... situation).

Would Leopaldon be considered in his unique class among the Megadeth Gears since he is amalgamation of different Gear types?

That’s true of more Gears than just Leopaldon, that applies to all kinds of Gears, actually.

Still, a Gear’s power and “type” (as far as Gear classes go) was just something the Sacred Order used to gauge what kind of enemy forces they were going up against… it was also based on “basic manufacturing specs” from the Gear Plants that manufactured Gears in America.

In other words, Gears that evolved past their own “base specifications” were beyond classification… which is probably true of Gears like Testament and Leopaldon… it’s also true of Sol as well (even if he is the Prototype)!
