Hello, hope you're doing well and taking care. You're amazing. Recently, I read Millia's Bio you made and one of her trivia says, "Though Millia didn’t make any official appearance in the Guilty Gear Xtra Manga, she makes a small cameo, walking around a fallen Gear Body Part that fell from space that landed in Europe." I was wondering, is there more to know about Gears In Space? Did the Gear fall from space or get hit into the sky by someone and fell? Thank you for your time.
The story goes that “Mothership” (a space station meant to propagate Gears as forms of life) was programmed to detect EMPF waves, Electromagnetic Pulse Frequency.
EMPF waves are said to be a frequency that any capable planet emits as a “pulse”, at least in scientific theory.
The purpose was so that in the event that Mothership found a planet besides Earth that could support life, it would deposit the Gear Cell specimens (called Fallen Parts or “Fallen Gear Body Parts” in the Manga) on that uninhabited planet as a way of propagating a new more “durable” ecosystem.
While it’s strange to consider the idea that the Gear “Fallen Parts” were seperate parts to begin with, the theory is that these individual body parts would have regenerated in to seperate life forms regardless of how they were dismembered because of the Gear Cells they were given.
Breaking them down in to seperate body parts was probably the best way the Scientists behind Mothership could manage the experiment.
Basically, by cutting Gear body parts in to seperate parts, the Scientists behind the Mothership experiment wished to determine which Gear Cell “parts” were more capable of not only regenerating, but also propagating an ecosystem on a near-lifeless planet somewhat like Terraforming.
This would essentially help them learn how Gear bodies regenerate based on organ and cell structure differences, and which cell bodies would best interact with other forms of life.
Keep in mind that it was only Asuka R. Kreutz who knew the true efficacy of Gear Cells and their powers to regenerate at the time, as other scientists had no idea how to replicate Gears the way “That Man” could.
Even though Sol Badguy indirectly blamed “That Man” for starting all these incidents with the Fallen Parts… he wasn’t the entire cause, nor did he have the resources at that time to go that far with Gear Cell experimentation based on what happened in 2074.
Anyway, when the barrier around the Japanese Dimensional Colony disappeared (as a result of Anji Mito taking the Zessen OutRage with him), the signal block that kept Japanese residents from emitting EMPF waves ceased to exist… and in particular the girl named Mizuha resonated with the Mothership by accident via the EMPF waves.
Interestingly enough, Mizuha referred to her resonance with Mothership as “Heaven’s Pillar” subconsciously, and referred to the Fallen Parts as “Makaotsu” or “Disasters from the Sky”. This interaction with Mothership was most probably coincidentially related to Mizuha’s Gear-like DNA reacting to the Mothership in a delusion-like state (since we know the Japanese have a strong connection to Gears now). This EMPF resonance is also how Axl Low picked up Mizuha over his broken radio he was trying to fix.
It’s said that Ki can emit a form of Electromagnetic wave, especially in Mizuha’s Kotodama or “Ki Singing”. Mothership picked this up from outer space, and mistook Earth for a new planet.
The result caused Mothership to dump its payload in the Earth’s atmosphere, causing all the Fallen Parts specimens to land in various parts of the world to be recovered by the PWAB and United Nations, as well as the International Police.
Fortunately, none of the Fallen Parts actually functioned, since Justice wasn’t there to control the Gear Cells with her Resonant component Command powers.
The only problem that remained was that the technology that built the core of the Mothership accidentally fused with Geena’s cyber prosthetics using Gear Cells, further exacerbating the incident.
Geena tried to control the entire Mothership and drop it on to the planet in retaliation against Tyr and Mizuha, but Mizuha used her Kotodama powers to resonate with Tyr and enhance his own abilities to essentially recombinate the Mothership (along with Geena) so that it wouldn’t crash on the Earth’s surface.
It’s unclear if Geena survived that incident, or where Tyr and Mizuha went after that, though it can be safe to assume the PWAB put a bounty on Mizuha’s head for escaping the colony before it was legally permitted, so most likely Mizuha took asylum in Zepp along with Tyr.
Tyr is also technically a “rogue Gear/War Relic” so they both are probably still on the run until things calm down regarding how Japanese colony residents are treated globally (along with Gears of course).
As for the Fallen Gear Parts, Ky stated that any and all Gear materials were either dismantled or sealed for safety reasons, as there was no telling what kind of environmental damage they would cause otherwise compared to normal incapacitated Gears or Gear Cell specimens.
