Yarikecho/Gekima

Tsukomogami are often well kept antiques that gain sentience. However, objects haunted by their slain master’s will, also fall into that category. Yarikecho/Gekima are spear tassels that carry on their fallen master’s fighting spirit. They are one of several yokai that haunt ancient battlefields, and possibly museums.

A New Year’s Eve Parade

Well, Shou isn’t so alone this year. He has his housemate/employer, Ahka to enjoy the festivities with him along with the wild procession of Yokai! I know Hyakki Yagyo happens during the summers, but I think Yokai would find any excuse to party! Wow! I finished on time! With hours to spare. I never thought I could paint such a spectacle in my life! Getting lost in the process is rather exhilirating! I may have left some mistakes here and there though XD Well, Happy New Year everyone! May we strive to improve in our own ways and pace :)

Yokai Inktober #19-20: Bakezori, Umatokage, and Gekima

I based these guys off Kyōsai’s Pictures of One Hundred Demons. I didn’t get much information from them, but they were hella fun to draw.

Bakezori and Umatokage, the straw and stick combo! They’re both Tsukumogami, Bakezori is a sandal, while Umatokage is a toy stick horse, although its name translates to lizard horse. I don’t know why they’re paired up like this, maybe it’s for the sake of a pun?

Gekima is a spear Tassel Tsukumogami. Not quite noteworthy, but hopefully not as bloodthirsty as its master as it wanders around old battle fields.
