Rust Colored Gems - GemSelect
‘Rust’ as a color doesn't sound very attractive, but on the contrary, rust is thought to be the next ‘in’ trend when it comes down to popular colors for fashion gems and jewelry. As we near the beginning of 2016, rather than thinking of rust as being something old and worn-out, think of it as a splendid mix of hues - a splash of red, with orange and smoky brown color.
The color of rust is a warm color that can compliment almost any type of complexion, and since it vary in intensity from bright to toned and washed-down, rust colored gemstones are ideal for gem mountings composed of any color alloy, but they coordinate particularly well with yellow gold or bronze when it comes to jewelry. Many assume that rust would be an uncommon color when it comes to gemstones, but surprisingly, there are many jewels found in rusty color; including spessartite garnet, hessonite garnet, Mali garnet, sapphire, zircon, fire opal, tourmaline, carnelian, tiger's eye, andesine labradorite and sphalerite.
If rust does not ring your bell, then maybe pink is your thing. You can read our previous blog article about pink gems and pink jewelry by #gemselect.
