Jasper is one of the many quartz varieties of gemstones available today. Jasper is an opaque and ‘impure’ form of silicon dioxide (SiO2). Up to 20% percent of fine dense jasper can be composed of foreign materials, typically hematite, pyrolusite, clay or calcite. In fact, jasper has such a distinctly grainy structure compared to other varieties of chalcedony, many place jasper into its own group within the quartz family.

‘Rust’ as a color doesn't sound very attractive, but on the contrary, rust is thought to be the next ‘in’ trend when it comes down to popular colors for fashion gems and jewelry. As we near the beginning of 2016, rather than thinking of rust as being something old and worn-out, think of it as a splendid mix of hues - a splash of red, with orange and smoky brown color.
