We arrived at 5pm and I thought the evening was going to be a disappointment when we waited 20 minutes for a drink at the bar... we waited outside for our table since there was actual sun shining! A 40 minute wait for a party of 4. The great selection of OFW brewery beers made it pass quickly. Our server Victoria was the queen of cuteness with dimples for days. So unbelievably fun and awesome! Beer battered skinless haddock was absolute perfection. A well earned 9.5. Breaded and Sheffield broiled(garlic butter) was also unbelievable! All sides homemade by the side specialist Pauline. The mac salad was fantastic featuring red and green peppers 9. Potato salad faired the same with a solid 8.5. Fries were hand cut with skin on, firm and salty. (9) Now let’s talk coleslaw! The standard that comes with the fry is a great sweet and sour mix but ask for a side of blue cheese cole slaw! Game changer if you are a blue cheese fan!!! (9) There are only a few, insignificant down sides... no bread served with the fish fry and I feel the portions of the sides could be a tad more plentiful. Let’s just say it’s a rare occurrence that I clean my plate. They left me begging for more!! Also the tartar is available by request only. Don’t bother getting it, it is pretty much glorified mayonnaise. Quite frankly the fish is so damn good that you don’t want to tarnish it by putting tartar on it anyway!! Parking is not great... small lot across the street or on the street. Overall rating a 9.5! Get there people... the old first ward won’t disappoint! Good luck to the rest of the places who are on my list this year. This one is going to be real tough to top.
