Exploring Essential Oils to Expel Pests
Essential oils are not just valuable additions to your personal care collections. Their productive applications extend far beyond just personal care. The aromatic properties of these oils have a far greater effect than only calming the mind and relaxing the mood.
Though seeking general pest control services by professionals is the best idea when the infestation is intense, one can resort to essential oils to chase off pests. Rodents, Roaches, Arachnoids, and Ants are not big fans of essential oils.
Eucalyptus Oil
Eucalyptus oil can be effective as a pest repellent. It helps to chase away mosquitoes, ticks-n-fleas, flies, earwigs, mites, and roaches. For indoor use, combine it with water or other pest repelling essential oils and spray it on infected areas. Add around 10 drops of eucalyptus oil to a half cup of water and make the solution.
Tea Tree Oil
The aroma of this essential oil is very strong and intense. The smell is intolerable to roaches, lizards, spiders, ants, insects, and flies. It is also effective against lice, and parasites. Take 10-15 drops of tea tree essential oil and mix it with a half cup of water. Spray the solutions at areas where you suspect the concentration of pests issues.
Citronella Oil
This oil is popularly used in insect and arachnoid repellent products. It can also help you repel cockroaches, mosquitoes, bugs and ants from your property. Mix this oil (10 drops around) with water or rubbing alcohol to make a solution. Spray it at infested areas.
Lavender Oil
Lavender essential oil is highly effective, as high as 93%, as a mosquito repellent according to research. Add 15 drops of lavender oil with half a cup of water or rubbing alcohol to make your mosquito repelling solution.
