to him, there’s only one god. he knows there are many, he knows there are more that others believe in, but to him he will always only remain faithful to the one, the very person his existence is devoted to. even if he’s in a new world, his belief doesn’t change, in fact he remains as ardently devoted as ever -- if anything, he must work even harder for that god.
for him, he’ll do anything, after all.
it can almost be considered mockery that hua cheng is sitting in their church, his hands holding a little booklet with information about their religion. they tell grand tales of the two goddesses who became one, their voices speaking at the same time, though one person can only hear one at most. hua cheng looks at the beautiful murals and sculptures created to honor their god -- though the beauty pales compared to the splendor of his own.
a two faced god... the irony.
“amusing, isn’t it?” he says, breaking the silence. there has been one other person in this quiet place of worship with him. he had not spoken a word to him before this. without caring if he receives a reply or not, for he can be talking to himself or someone else, he continues, “do you think the gods they write about exist?”
