When it comes to listening to digital music, there are basically no more technical issues stopping the average person from listening to a song. There are a variety of digital formats to choose from as well as a slew of digital listening devices ranging from knockoff to uber-expensive. Even relics who aren’t likely to embrace any sort of digital behavior should have no problem downloading a song to their electronic devices. What is left for the industry to develop is a new way to actually discover music. There are currently two main ways of finding music. One of them is the organic method that we have grown up with. It involves hearing a song and asking about it; proper research helps us find what we want.
The other method is more of a colder machine like method of discovery, where songs are discovered for us. This is what Pandora and many other streaming radio services use to help build our playlists based on our listening tastes. Both serve a purpose in our current culture, and both will seemingly be around for a long time. Still, there are those on both sides who feel their way of discover is superior to others.
