Some of my sweetest friends are like Jemima here. She resides at the Gentle Barn Missouri just outside St. Louis and she couldn’t be happier to be held. She was bought as a baby with her brother by a family for an holiday gift. They were not prepared to have two baby ducklings and kept them in their bathtub until they realized that they were not allowed to have ducks at their house. Jemima and her brother were then given to a friend of the family where they lived for 2 weeks before a wild animal broke into their coop and killed her brother. Jemima was devastated and refused to leave her brother. Not knowing what to do with her, the family contacted us and we invited her to live with us in safety. Jemima was just 3 months old when she came to live with us and is growing fast. She will be an ambassador for all baby animals who are bought as gifts without forethought about the adults they will grow into or the commitment to care for an animal and who are often thrown away as a result.
