Geoff was super compassionate and kind to Ruprecht though, wasn’t he the only of the gang trying to help Ruprecht when he was spiraling post Skippy death?

yes absolutely!! I do love Geoff and think he's underappreciated as a character (which I am aware is a hilarious thing to say as the only person talking about this book at length) and I do really enjoy that he's the other part of their friend group who seems most interested in/compassionate towards Ruprecht--as we learn later Geoff is the fantasy/DND flavor of geek so it makes sense that there's some crossover there (side note: in my Skippy-Dies-is-a-Lord-Of-The-Flies-deconstruction theory, Geoff definitely fills the role of Simon)

and I absolutely do think that some of the lesson that Ruprecht has to learn in part 3/post-canon is that there is more support and appreciation for him than he believes--which of course is part of his big theme of "all or nothing" thinking, and is also a big part of his conversation with Lori at the end--and I definitely hypothesize/hope that Ruprecht's new friend group becomes Geoff and Jeekers (and Lori of course jdjaksjhdsa)

so yeah given that Ruprecht does have at least one other supportive friend....possible evidence that there is also Something Else going on regarding Ruprecht's feelings about Skippy....

TV Tropes says that Geoff is the Mulder to Ruprecht's Skully (though imo it's actually way more accurate to say that Ruprecht is the Mulder to Dennis's Skully but I understand what they're getting at lol)

what she means: honestly gid.get.te is not my favorite ship at all but I can’t help but feel sorry for them. they were two kids in the middle of a summer fling who got unexpectedly popular through aftermath and who most likely felt pressured to stay together well after they were really, really into it because they were such a big deal for so long and they didn’t want to disappoint fans. while they seem okay in later world tour episodes it’s telling they never appear together again and geoff mentioning bridgette in ridonculous race seems more like a formality. nothing feels natural after that point. I’m glad they’ve still managed to be friends through this though, and seeing them in the early island episodes makes me a little sad, knowing what's to come

One thing I'm gonna post about in more detail (when I get the chance to get off mobile and get the pics/scenes I'm talking about) is one of those little background gags in TD that actually carries through the first three seasons. But! I think it's interesting that, without any real explanation as to why, Geoff and Trent don't seem to like each other. They continue to antagonize one another on and off in little ways throughout the first three seasons-- but it's so minor I didn't even pick up on it until @ubogins pointed it out to me.

So, I actually… didn’t think much of Bridgette on my rewatch of Total Drama, which is fitting because I feel like her and several other characters don’t really get properly solidified/have a chance to spread their wings until Action or World Tour. She was actually close to the bottom of the original cast rankings when I did them pre-rewatch/first time viewing of the original seasons.

Now? She’s probably in my top ten!

She and Geoff are fascinating to me, in that I almost feel like their character arcs in Action and World Tour were almost accidental by-products of the plotted character drama for them. I like that everyone’s friend and generally chill Bridgette gets considerably less chill with Geoff’s drastic personality shift, and while she seems to like the fame to an extent definitely seems to enjoy it less and less until she straight-up doesn’t appear in Ridonculous Race. I think it’s extremely telling that it was Geoff and Brody teaming up, both in a way to slowly accept the ebb and flow of Gidgette is definitely part of their character interactions and to show that hey, she’s done with the spotlight for a while.

Nice character bias aside, I think the contrast between trying to be everyone’s friend while simultaneously taking more and more issue with the way the show keeps going and the way fame has changed the people around her is a fun lens to view her character through. World Tour’s Aftermaths really clued me in to things, and while I’m not entirely certain her arc was totally intentional, I’m glad it’s kind of there!

Plus she’s adorable. I have no idea how younger me wasn’t her biggest fan.
