Falling For A Dark God (part 1)

Note: I don’t know if I am going to do another chapter, it depends on the comeback from the Tumblr people. It would be a very long wait for chapters at times, and might not dig right into Ryan but I like to build up to the romance. And yes some of the names are from Greek Mythology, I thought it was cool. Hope you enjoy! ~A

Chapter 1: Different

We were happy, normal. The town of Sky Factory was ordinary, we had farmers, builders, healers, and fighters. We all saw each other as equals. One day, December 12, 1991, to be exact, Alyssa Grace gave birth to two twin babies. One boy and one girl. Alyssa and Grave Grace decided to name them, Apollo and Artemis Grace. Apollo grew up to follow into mom’s footsteps, being a healer, probably the best around next to Jack Pattillo. Jack has always been an idol for my brother, the way she handles very pressured events always amazed him. Me, Artemis, on the other hand, loves archery. A beautiful form of battling, my mother even made me a special bow that I cherish to this day. My father was a farmer and was a very good friend of Geoff Ramsey. Geoff would come over all the time and would help out as much as he could.

Like I said, normal. But then a new energy came to town that forever changed us. Erebus and his son Ryan. They took control of Sky Factory and made all the changes. Erebus made everyone pay bigger taxes for his projects. He made a portal to another dimension, The Nether. Brought back this golden, glowing powder. Which then he made into a light source. He wanted to make Sky Factory better, so he did. Made bigger farms, more weapons, new power sources, all while the people had to help. Mostly the men, but occasionally women were allowed.

My mother was never really a fan of all of this, but she stayed and dealt with it. She thought when this God died or retired then it would go back to normal, but when he stepped down and gave the throne to his son Ryan, she was furious. She packed up and left. The three of us tried to stop her, but nothing worked. When she tried to leave they took her, locked her up for life. That was five years ago, Apollo and I were 21 and now we are 26.

Apollo is now like a soldier, he doesn’t practice medicine anymore. He now is a test dummy of new weapons they make. He doesn’t have the emotion he used to have, he doesn’t have the same energy. And now my father has stopped farming, all he does is stay in his room. Sad and alone, sometimes in the middle of the night, you can hear whimpers from his room. And I have taken farming for money. I still do archery, on the side, but now I spend my days providing for the family. Apollo gets money for the tests, but not nearly enough for the taxes.

One thing I’ve noticed is that Ryan is different than his father. He doesn’t take pleasure in the dirty work, of course, he acts as if he does. But I look through the charade, seeing the pain in his eyes of hanging people. I am still not a fan of Ryan, he is a scum and changed everything in this town. I blame him and that father of his for forever making this town different. I don’t care if he doesn’t enjoy hurting people, he took my mother.
