tired of reading about the slings and arrows of modern life? try reading about GRAND COULEE, a geologic feature in Washington State formed about 18,000 years ago when the ice dam holding back Glacial Lake Missoula failed, releasing 500 cubic miles of water in 48 hours, stripping the land to its bedrock as it rushed across at 65mph, gouging a 200-foot-deep trench in the continental shelf at the coastline, hundreds of miles from where the ice dam failed. all i’m saying is bring a floaty.

Still amazed at how sharp the vieuw through my little microscope is! These litte pepperball looking fellas are magnetite concretions from a core I've studied, they're around half a milimetre wide. I collected them by sticking a metal pin into the sample after washing it and simply lifting them out.
