Christoph Graupner (1683-1760) Cantatas
Christoph Graupner (1683-1760) was a prolific German composer of over 1400 cantatas, numerous instrumental works, and 8 operas. J.S. Bach (1685-1750) was actually the 3rd choice for the Cantorate position in Leipzig (1722), after Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) and Graupner. The issue for Graupner was the court of Hesse-Darmstadt, where Graupner worked from 1709-1754, refused to release him from his contract.
