friend mikey has been posting misha art and getting questions like, What do you mean secret third Michael? Tell us about the secret third Michael! i wanted to make his life easier.

long story short is that this was born from a mfrp server where michael is still Alive post-101 but something goes wrong and he doesnt quite get entirely atomized or absorbed into helen. he is also a system in a messed up fearsy way, as he starts to degrade when away from the corridors for too long, and he spent a long time purposefully avoiding them to try and feel more human. the remnants of the distortion in his mind end up splitting off and forming their own "person" that fills the role of michael's typical silly mildly threatening very nonhuman nature and forces the body into the corridors to "recharge".

i wanted to avoid a system story where the "more monstrous" alter plays the role of a persecutor, and it ended up conveniently that misha fills the role of a typical persecutor a lot better than michael does– he fronts as a response to anger and discomfort, and spends a lot of time being somewhat unfairly mean and antagonistic to jon and gerry each in their own special ways. if i draw more of him this may become more apparent.

i call him "misha" because its a rather familial russian diminutive for the name michael. very few people in any of his existences actually call him that, but i call him that as an easier way to separate him from distortion michael (colloquially called Distortie) than saying Michael 1 and Michael 2. especially because misha is Not actually michael shelley, more like. a source detached factive of michael shelley. he holds some of michael shelleys memories and feels some personal connection to them, but he doesnt recognize Himself as michael shelley, and reacts very negatively to being referred to or treated as such.

heres the lineups in question! i wanted to add an extra misha outfit, because while misha in the more canon compliant-ish timeline i have in my minds eye doesnt ever really explore his gender (no time for that, goku), in the mfrp server he's primarily used in, he's grown into a place where he's more comfortable in a transfem nonbinary identity. yayyy misha!

YES! though tbf it's more like he lives in the mind of @retconjuration and i just like him enough to be drawing him a bunch. the og concept came from a mfrp server with friends so bear with me. simplified answer is that michael is plural and "misha" is what we call the secret third michael. he isn't shelley b/c that guy was very much eaten but the distortion is its own separate identity. which leaves misha! more in-depth answer i'm pulling from how jonah's previous described it because obviously he will have a better explanation when misha is his creation LOL:

"will be honest it was entirely an accident because i am a system and was accidentally system coding him! he's post-101 where when he gets unmade by helen, something kind of weird happens and doesnt Fully separate him from the distortion like it should, but all the parts of michael that were like. the angry and vengeful parts have kind of formed their own separate person. i think i described him once as using using michael shelley's identity as kind of an ill fitting shoe. he has the memories(as Distorted as they are) and he Feels somewhat more human but there is still something Wrong about that identity. so he feels no attachment to the shelley name and just uses michael for familiarity. he also spends a lot of time being a huge bitch to jon and gerry both for very different reasons each. he's my creature."

i distinguish "misha" from shelley/the distortion in tags & art and such b/c his behaviour's different from how i'd envision the other two to act and that carries over into his dynamic w/ gerry. gerrymisha gerryshelley and distortion!doorkeay are three drastically different pairings in my mind. a lot of my doorkeay/gerrymichael art is rp-inspired to be honest but can still exist as its own stand-alone interpretation of doorkeay when i put it out into the world so the distinction is mostly just for me and those who know... thank u for asking i hope this makes sense. :3
