Tatiana Troyanos as Countess Geschwitz
Happy Lesbian Day of Visibility to those who are celebrating, and thank you Helena for reblogging the original. Seeing Lulu and Geschwitz again made my day.

Brenda Rae (Lulu) and Sarah Connolly (Countess Geschwitz) in rehearsal for Lulu at the English National Opera, fall 2016. There are more rehearsal photos and quotes from the cast on the ENO website.
Lulu (Louise Brooks) and Countess Geschwitz (Alice Roberts) dance together in a scene from the 1929 silent movie Die Büchse der Pandora (Pandora’s Box) by Georg Wilhelm Pabst. It is adapted from Frank Wedekind’s Lulu, which also provided source material for Alban Berg’s opera of the same title.
Ohohoho so that William Kentridge co-production of Lulu, the one that a bunch of us saw in the Met HD yesterday, when it goes to ENO next fall will have not only Sarah Connolly as Geschwitz but also, rumor has it, Brenda Rae in the title role . . .
Radio 3 announcer at the end of Sarah Connolly’s recital in Edinburgh this morning: “and then she’ll be appearing at English National Opera in Lulu . . .”
Was that the sound of a cat named Geschwitz wriggling out of the bag . . . ?!
