New 5c Cases Make Holiday Gift Giving Simple, and Elegant
Soho, NY – November 05, 2013 Personal accessories brand ADOPTED has introduced four new cases for iPhone 5c, including a sneak peek of the Victorian Silhouette – a laser-etched graphic case featuring ornate Victorian scrollwork on ADOPTED’s signature continuous curved surface. Updated for the iPhone 5c, their popular and protective Lens Case line for Fall 2013 includes a Clear option, as well as the pristine Ceramic White and elegant Satin Black. Perfect for holiday giving, the new Silhouette and Lens cases for iPhone 5c are available online in The Adopted Shop for $29.95.

The ADOPTED Victorian Silhouette is the brand’s first graphic case release and is part of the new Silhouette series. Perfectly conforming to the iPhone 5c, it imbues an effortless elegance without detracting from the phone’s playful character. The Victorian Silhouette will be available December 2013.
“We initiated our graphic offering with the Victorian case, because the intricate pattern we were able to achieve with laser etching was a fun counterpoint to the vibrant iPhone 5c colors,” says David Watkins, ADOPTED’s CEO and design lead.
The ADOPTED Lens Case line remains one of ADOPTED’s core favorites, owing to its simple, clean aesthetic and comfortable in hand feel. The new Clear Lens for iPhone 5c is a glossy, low profile case, which is completely transparent. The Ceramic White has a subtle matte coating to contrast with the iPhone 5c’s glossy shell, while the Satin Black has a velvety soft-touch finish that feels great in the hand. They feature the same flowing contours that make the Lens such a great case for connecting the user with the device, and are precision crafted to ADOPTED’s highest standards.
“The iPhone 5c colors make a strong statement, and sometimes you just want a case that isn’t there. Our Clear Lens is inconspicuous and sturdy,” says COO Nora Levinson. “Alternatively, the Ceramic White and Satin Black complement the phone so the iPhone 5c colors become striking accents.”

From Shanghai to New York
As the ADOPTED team settles into our new global headquarters in New York, we are reminded of our beginnings in Shanghai one year ago. David and Nora's experiences living and working in China guided the direction of ADOPTED from the start. Years in China allowed the ADOPTED founders to create strong relationships with the manufacturing partners who build our products. Understanding the nuances of their craft was vital to our ability to execute on an ambitious design vision.
"A lot of product companies today have lost a connection with their manufacturing base. Living and working in Asia was a truly valuable experience for innumerable reasons, not least of which was our ability to build strong relationships with our manufacturing partners. Without that close collaboration, we never would have been able to achieve a global launch of our product line within five months of founding the company," says David.
The penetration that luxury brands have in Asia also inspired confidence that there are people willing to invest in high quality accessories. In China's rapidly growing cities, there is a huge sense of optimism and upward mobility. People are hungry for products that represent their personal brand and their aspirations to the world.
"The intersection of fashion, craftsmanship, and personal technology is an area that both of us have been interested in for some time. Having worked at several consumer product companies together, we wanted to find a way to combine those worlds when starting our own brand," says Nora. "The level of engagement with luxury products that we saw throughout Shanghai society really helped to underscore and reinforce that vision."
As we grow in New York, we look back on the experiences in China that shaped who we are as a company. We will continue to build both offices, growing our teams here and overseas. It is a family and it only gets better with time.

Welcome to BLOG ADOPTED
People frequently ask us why we chose the name ADOPTED. To us, ADOPTED represents the conscious decision a person makes when integrating a product into their daily life. These objects become extensions of us, and of our behaviors and routines.
Smartphones are some of the most personal objects we interact with today. These communication tools are a link to our professional and social networks, and they capture our ideas and memories. Yet we felt that there were very few accessories that use high quality materials and unique design to complement these devices, and really honor that important place they hold in our lives.
At ADOPTED we're really inspired by traditional personal accessories such as luxury eyewear, vintage cameras, and expertly crafted leather bags. Our mission is to build each and every one of our designs with this same level of attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship.
From the beginning of their partnership, David's eye for design and quality materials has been a great complement to Nora's expertise in engineering and manufacturing processes. "It's the perfect balance of structure and design," says David. "Our arguments can get heated at times, but the resulting product speaks for itself," says Nora.
DAWN is the first installment in a video series about ADOPTED, exploring who we are, how we work, and what drives us. We created DAWN as a way for people to get to know us, our aesthetic, and our passion for what we do. It's a 4:00 minute piece, shot in and around Shanghai.
If you have questions, comments, or feedback for David and Nora, let us know in the comments. We'll have a Q&A in the next couple of weeks. We look forward to continuing the conversation.
Dawn
Building upon years of experience working together in consumer products, in 2012 David Watkins and Nora Levinson founded ADOPTED in Shanghai, China. They have since launched a successful line of cases for iPhone 5 in Apple Retail stores worldwide and built a global team to continue driving the creativity and growth of the company.
ADOPTED / DAWN is the first video in a series of vignettes that will introduce the ADOPTED story. We will touch on our founders, team, design and manufacturing process, and our journey forward. We look forward to sharing these experiences with you.
I’ve been “ADOPTED”. Check out this amazing new line of iPhone cases featuring leather, dare I say it, very (wink wink) similar to the Hermes leather! Apple stores are now carrying them! Or find them online at http://www.getadopted.com/en/shop/
