Week 5: Experimentation Through The Artmaking Process and Reflected in Final Work: My aim was to create 5 images with mediums and forms that I wasn’t used to in order to challenge myself. I played with the application acryllic paints of with sponges, coloured pencils and fine tipped ink pens and stencils to form text, sketching, written description in combination with painted images and the idea of titles reflecting process and concept. I also experimented with colours, textures, shapes and the concept of time to tie the portfolio together as a whole. Time was probably one of my main themes; the actual portfolio itself being the result of me wiping my paint covered sponges on different cleaning wipes, creating a sort of tie-dye or time spiral look. My images reflected time and the way marks build on a site; the footprints representing the people and the many sounds of feet across the warf; the repetition of the words “Since 1935” in both the textualisation of concept work and the space and time imagery that mimics the Luna Park signage; the written description of feelings amd senses, sight, sound, taste, touch, smell. All of these things combined to make my very experimental portfolio, which I think turned out really well and reflected the ideas of innocence and fun over time, how a place changes and how people changes with the build up of marks on a site. Individual explanation of each work - To be continued….. ;)
