Nine Months In - Nine Months Out!
I went for my first run today and I can't even begin to describe how good it feels to be exercising again! When you start off your day exercising - especially when you are blessed to live in a city surrounded by such breathtaking beauty, you get renewed energy and strength of mind to tackle the day ahead. It also makes you feel fresh and in a good mood, precious commodities particularly when you have a newborn and are sleep deprived! A good benchmark to getting back to size after having a baby is 'Nine Months In - Nine Months Out'. I wish we went back to our original size straight after birth but it takes effort and patience. And it begins during pregnancy. I don't buy into the eating for two theory. I put in a lot of effort to watch what I eat and exercise during pregnancy and it definitely pays off afterwards. Now while exercise is vital to losing kilos I feel that sometimes too much emphasis is put on exercising and not enough on the food we eat. I'm lucky to have found an excellent trainer in Cape Town who works in an all women's gym (The Zone Fitness in Kloof Street) who is very into nutrition and whose focus on both training and a healthy balanced diet have helped lots of women -including myself, get into shape and lose precious centimeters around their hips and waists. If you live in Cape Town and are looking for a high quality trainer with guaranteed results, I can highly recommend my trainer Noeleen Bridle. You can check out her Facebook page here Noeleen has helped me a lot in the past two years and I'm looking forward to restarting my training now that my baby is almost six weeks old.
Here are some pictures of the scenery that I get to see while I run.
