Data just came out that weed legalization in Colorado has created about $15 million in tax revenue that is being poured into the school system. Essentially weed is improving education in the state. Huff Post just posted an article about this two days ago, but back in November when I was at a brewery in Denver I heard a bartender talking about this... And I thought it would be a good story idea even though there wasn’t any data on it yet (the bartender said that since legalization, her kid’s school all of a sudden was providing students with their own iPads).
Reason #1 why journalists should never be confined in an office, or expected to rely solely on information gleaned from the internet. Journalists should get off their asses and get out in the real world — and no news agency should ever dissuade them from travelling or working remotely (clearly I’m pissed here... one day I’ll be a journalist filing stories from trains, cars, airports, and hotel rooms)
