I'm a veteran Muser. If Oasis are my favourite band, then Muse is #2 for me. I've seen this band live who knows how many times at this point, own all the albums, poked around the old muse forums as a teenager, gotten Twitter replies from all the band members and Tom Kirk etc etc. the point is that I've been around in this fandom for a long time.
And after listening to 'The Wow! Signal' all the way through I have the biggest smile on my face because Muse are back.
they are fucking back.
I've been waiting for this day for so, so, so, so, long. Where an album wouldn't have bits and pieces of it that are *just* fine or passable, but rather an entire cohesive project that combines the best aspects of their older music and their more experimental material from recent releases. I haven't heard Matt Bellamy sing with this much vibrant passion on a record in years. It means so much to me that him, Dom, Chris, and their team put their entire heart and creative soul into a project, and it really shows with each track. Literal labour of love right here.
I was so down on Muse after WOTP. I thought it was their worst album and believed they had lost their musical creativity, that they wouldn't be able to reach the highs of their creative heyday ever again. but I can sincerely and honestly say that they are back, and that means so much more to me than anyone in my life will ever know.
I will be listening to this album a million times more. It blows anything they've released post-2000s out of the water ❤️
fuck you mean people prefer this summer heat over winter? I always get weird looks from my friends when I tell them I prefer January weather over July. give me my snow storms and blizzards over any day of this humidity-filled shitshow !!
