his name is in fact jared. this is thanks to @ahaclownnoises. we sent a drawing of jared in a server we share w tommy, and joked abt how we had spent days calling him skrunkly because we couldnt think of a name. (this is in fact entirely true. we could not think of a name, therefore he was skrunkly.) tommy suggested jared and actually we decided no i like that. it fits him. and also we are a collective simpbur kin and Some of that kinda rubbed off on jared and we thought it was silly. anyways let me actually show you what the man looks like--

heres a doodle of him we did a few nights ago. hes a creeper hybrid!!! he lives in las nevadas, hes probably ~21/22!!! he used to be a citizen of lmanberg but after it got Fucked he kinda. idk probably disappeared for a while and ended up back and living in a trailer in las nevadas because fuck it yk.

he's a magic conman in that he is into magicky witchy shit, and you can pay him to do these things for you, but, uh. he is also very likely to scam you, twist the wording, or just entirely not even do what you've asked of him. (he also probably sells weed, but shhh.)

he also has an absolute shitbox of a pickup truck and really shouldn't have a license at all with how he drives. (< him and the guy he obsesses over have in fact lost non-canon lives bc of how jared drives. it's fine don't worry about it they respawned.)

he also has a sibling!!! they belong to @flowerhubbys, they are younger than him (and taller - jared is around ~6'11, 7'0, while aoife's character is around 7'2) and they are one of eret's knights <3 (they have "lovely" family discussions about this for a while because jared, for a while, does not like eret at all due to, uh. l'manberg and everything.)

..oh, and related to this fact, did i mention that he also starts dating eret's sibling eventually? (their name is alastair, yes this was intentional, and they belong to @aphotic-society because we have a Deep Autism Need, whenever we make characters in a universe with our partner, for these characters to kiss.)

jared has so many bad habits and is arguably very much not the greatest person in the world, we are aware of this /silly. he is also, uh, a Little obsessive when it comes to being in love with someone!! (which is why i joked abt our ""simpbur kinnie"" rubbing off on him. aka "we hate the idea of ever actually being like that to That Extent now, HOWEVER we also have a fascination with the trope in media so we are being silly goofy exploring".) (also we cleared jared being liek that w mirk first since its' character is the focus of that. idk if that's relevant to anyone but yeah. consent matters in rps / silly fan things too guys /hj)

jared also dresses like a redneck that lives in a trailer park, which is fitting because excluding that he's not actually from the south, that's basically what he is. we love him so much he is so greasy and stinky please ask us about him we want to infodump SO bad.

okokokok so we are FUCKING FINALLY!!!!! getting into watching a lot of yogscast series that we kinda just never watched a few years back despite telling our friend group at that time that we Would and actually very much wanting to (this is what i was mentioning earlier abt us dragging our friend aoife, flowerhubbys, into).

and uh !!!!! parvis is one of the main like. dudes. characters. in the series blood and chaos!!! which we are watching first despite to our understanding it being like third in a series. (solutions in chaos, heroes of mine, then bac)

so, like, (will) strife has a company called strife solutions right and our understanding is basically "you pay him he fixes your problems for u". idk how successful that actually is!! but uh!! he hires (alex) parvis as an employee and blah blah then some weird shit happens (keep in mind like i said we havent wached these first two yet LMAO) and something explodes and they get seperated or some shit right.

and then heroes of mine which we know LITERALLY nothing abt except its w parv and martyn (yes!! martyn inthelittlewood!! /pos) and yeah thats abt it

and then blood and chaos comes after that, right. strife tracks parvis down (remember they got seperated at the end of sic) and then parvis mentions that he found these weird things and that martyn didnt like them and he shows strife and its fuckin blood magic stuff and strife is like uh-uh fuck this we arent touching it but parvis kinda drags him into touching it so <3 ANDD UHHH we're only like four episodes in currently but so far its just Dumb Bitch Chaos and Murder

so. the trolls are the alien species IN homestuck. theyre grey-skinned, have black hair, yellow sclera/black eyes, generally have fangs, etc. they also have horns of varying shapes/sizes that are red, orange, and yellow. (one of the characters, karkat, has kind of a running gag of people poking fun at him because his horns slightly resemble candy corn)

troll society is seperated into a caste system - your placement is determined by your blood colour, each of which is tied to an actual, real life zodiac sign! from lowest to highest, it goes:

rust (aries) -> bronze (taurus) -> gold (gemini) -> lime* (cancer) -> olive (leo) -> jade (virgo) -> teal (libra) -> cerulean (scorpio) -> indigo (sagittarius) -> purple (capricorn) -> violet (aquarius) -> fuschia (pisces) *limebloods are, at the point of the original comic, extinct. they were hunted to extinction, specifically, and any cancer troll after has the potential instead to have a mutation causing their blood to be "candy red", aka bright red. candy-redblooded trolls are ALSO generally killed very soon on, although unlike limebloods being hunted for presumed insanely strong abilities, candy-reds (iirc) are culled because, essentially, in the eyes of the monarchy, they should not exist and have no PURPOSE to existing. this is a general rule with any and all mutations in troll society; if its not beneficial to the condesce (the ruler), theres no reason it needs to exist.

there was originally only 12 signs, for each of the 12 ACTUAL zodiac signs, but with the release of the games hiveswap and friendsim, they made up a bunch more. official tally is now 288 possible signs. your sign is determined by your blood caste, lunar sway, and aspect.

lunar sway and aspect are two mechanics of sburb, while blood caste is what i just explained. for trollsonas, you decide the blood caste by going off your ACTUAL zodiac sign -- we're a libra, so our trollsona is a tealblood. (specifically, if anyone's curious, he's a librist - derse dreamer and life player, which. i can explain in a different ask because this is alreayd long as fuck and this is just bare basics of the trolls.)

oh, also, violet and fuschia bloods are actually seadwelling trolls, they can breathe underwater, live underwater, and have gills/fins/etc. fuschia trolls are generally only female (although i dont remember if this is a genetic thing or if male fuschias are culled), and only fuschias can be the future ruler; there can also only exist two fuschias on the planet at a time, the current ruler and the heiress. when the heiress comes of age, she is expected to challenge the current ruler for the throne.

the only other caste that is gender-exclusive is the jadebloods, being born ONLY afab - BUT!!!! trans jades do exist! there's a canon one, too; his name is lanque bombyx, and around the time he was originally revealed for friendsim, whatpumpkin (the company behind it) confirmed that he is, like other jades, afab SO!!!! yeah :D

okay so i know the whle joke is like, homestuck is massively convoluted and confusing and it IS. it so is. however the simplest way i can put the plot:

four human kids - john egbert, rose lalonde, jade harley, and dave strider - are kinda introduced in a normal day for them. the comic starts on john's birthday, april 13, in 2006, specifically, where he's excited because he is getting a beta of a new video game, sburb, in the mail, and convinced his friends (the other three kids) to do the same. (other kids are varying degrees of excited about this. dave thinks its stupid as hell, as he does most things at this point, rose is mildly intrigued, etc.)

a bunch of random shit happens throughout that is GOING to make it incredibly convoluted to explain so i wont currently. its also worth noting right now, all four kids live in varying points of the earth - john lives in washington, dave in texas, rose in new york, and jade.... somewhere vaguely on a pacific island. i dont think an *actual* one is ever stated, and she and her grandfather live alone *on* said island, so. yeah. but relating to this, the main dialogue throughout a good large amout of the comic take place through a chat client, btw.

after you get acquainted with the kids and see the bullshit that is their daily lives, then Fuck Shit Happens. aka after all the bullshit, they manage to actually start the game.

and it Ends the Fucking World. /srs

yeah, so, the game is magically fucking linked to real life, anything done in the game affects the actual, real world environment the kids live in. this culminates in, alongside the game mechanics, a fucking meteor shower that eventually ends the world.

(all the kids end up entering the "medium", which is the word the game itself takes place in.)

oh yeah and theyve also been getting vaguely-harassed by various mysterious characters throughout this that call themselves "trolls".

these trolls are literal aliens, an alien species actually CALLED trolls. they live on a planet called alternia, which is a fuckin.. idk would dystopia work? its fucked is what im getting at.

they are ALSO playing THEIR version of the game, sgrub, except theres twelve of them - one corresponding to each zodiac sign (and, in the comic, each zodiac sign thusly corresponds to a blood color / caste.)

eventually the sessions link up and the kids and trolls actually have to try and get along for five goddamn seconds to create a *new* world. nope, not save theirs! make a *new* one.

theres a bunch of other shit and game mechanics throughout but thats the general gist of the story?

honestly we havent finished the entire comic and our personal favourite things to talk about are the worldbuilding / game mechaics of sburb and stuff. we're helping our partner make a homestuck au for lifestealsmp and we are having the time of our fucking life we love this shit. there is so much to talk about in regards to what makes the characters and stuff and what about them effects the world and everything else.
