GHOSTS IN THE DRIVEWAY
A new song from Golden Wells
Wells sat at the Grand Piano and that when it him, he needed to write a song that was just him and the Piano. He starting thinking that sometimes you go back thinking a place will still feel the same. Same street. Same house. Same porch light. Same driveway. And for a second it almost does. Then it hits you that time kept moving, even when part of you stayed behind.
Ghosts in the Driveway is about that feeling. Coming back to your childhood home or your hometown after years away and realizing you cannot actually step back into who you were when you lived there. The memories are still waiting for you, but they do not belong to the present anymore. They hang in the air like ghosts. Familiar. Beautiful. Painful.
This song is for everyone who has ever stood in an old place and felt the weight of growing up all at once. For everyone who has missed being a kid so hard it almost hurt. For everyone who has wanted, just once, to rewind the tape and walk back through the door before life got heavy.
You can never really go home. You can only stand in the driveway and remember.
“Ghosts in the Driveway” out now. By Golden Wells.
A song about memory, growing up, and the kind of heartbreak that comes from knowing you cannot go back.
