Affection

Whilst there are many ways to express your love toward your loved ones, like gifting baked goods (Villagers), jewellery (Illagers), herbal medicine (Witches), or even endowing them with good armour/weapon (Piglin), the ways Willows show their affection are... peculiar, to put it simply. They, in general, don't perform the concept of gift-giving. Preferring to show off their builds, combat techniques or other unique skills instead. Or much gruesomely...

Showing their taxidermied kills. Mostly Testificates.

Of course. Not all Willows are capable of preserving their kills, usually *older Willows are the ones capable of performing and maintaining taxidermy mounts. But besides that, Willows don't really find mounts as pleasing as sturdy builds they've done nor find the time to stitch together a corpse as rewarding as crafting a beautiful metal weapon/armour. Something about taxidermy mounts is uncanny for them.

Willows show their affection through sparring with their loved ones or friendly competitions. Assuming their loved ones are other Willows. If otherwise, they'll show it mostly by building resilient houses and/or farms and showing off combat techniques. Assuming they have Testificate/Piglin loved ones. They know they are Immortal unlike their loved ones. They know they have only a few decades at best to spend time with them, then slowly, excruciatingly forget them once centuries pass. Blame their tendency to latch onto the next being that has similar if not the same intelligence as them. Which is why they're so protective. You'd best not hurt (especially not kill) their loved ones in front of them. Immortal beings like them know the best form of torture.

Notes:

*Willows that have existed for 60 or more years. It's certainly uncommon for younger Willows to have mastered taxidermy, unless they've grown in a society that teaches it.

Steve knows he's feared revered by every village he encounters. He knows how they view his very existence - an anomaly within a mortal world. Incomprehensible to all but people like him. So these villagers acting as if he was part of the normal meant that there is another of his kind.

Trivia!!

- Giel's bangs and the end of her hair are loosely inspired by my ethnicity's traditional motif named Gorga.

- Likewise, his sword is a Piso Halasan (Sword of Happiness) which enables the master to bring happiness to the people they rule. Ironic given that it rules over no-one.

- Giel isn't a self-insert sona. They're one of my mascots 'cause i don't really like. having a sona.

- It's 34 years old by the time it stumbled across Alsunsu's village.

- Since Giel's a shapeshifter, it probably only styles it's hair in the above motif during village festivals/ceremonies. totally not because ill lose sanity drawing their hair that way
