Check out this gig poster for an upcoming show by the fascinating Battleme at the Bunk Bar in Portland, Oregon. Battleme is the moniker of Matt Drenik, former front man for the Austin, Texas-based Lions (the band behind what is possibly one of my favorite covers ever). Drenik is long overdue for an in-depth piece here on The EngineFace. His story is incredible (read his own "about" section from the Battleme site) - he went from making straight-up rock 'n roll music in Austin, to picking up and moving to Portland in order to find himself and his music (while battling health issues). He came out of a sort self-imposed exile with an eclectic collection of songs filled with everything from rock to synth to soul. Truly amazing. Below you can stream "Pocket Full of Flies," one of my favorite tracks from Battleme's 2012's self-titled release.
