Rammstein MK Masterpost
- It was amazing
- They actually play so spot-on live that at times I kinda forgot everything was being performed live including the synths. Very clean. These lads know what they're doing.
- Yes, you CAN tell which one is Reesh from 4 miles away because he prances out in this layered black and red cloaked outfit and honestly, it couldn't be anyone else
- Nobody ever seems to realise how far away you feel the flamethrowers. Even right in the back, ya gonna get roasted
- Till strapped a lit flare to his chest for Mein Herz Brennt, then ripped it off and threw it down behind him. Dramatic as fuck/10
- Someone forgot to turn Till's mic on for the first couple lines of Deutschland. That person is probably already dead
- Something about watching that demonic doll get burned during Puppe then seeing the crowd get drenched in a churning cloud of ashes that come spewing out of the towers ... It actually felt a lot more morbid and eerie than I anticipated
- Ausländer live is an amazing party all on its own
- I never gave Flake proper credit for being absolutely fucking fearless. Do a lil dance while taking a massive industrial flamethrower to the face, why don't you, Christian. It's fine
- All of the boys sang Engel together, backed by the pianists that opened for them, while the whole arena held up lighters/phone lights. It was a really nice lil moment.
- you may think it's not possible to get a proper windmill going when you're in a seated section. You would be wrong. Rammstein will make it happen.
- After the announcement for the show starting, people still weren't really paying attention, until silence was demanded with this massive almighty fucking explosion of sparks from the stage that I think actually stopped my heart for a second
- Opening with Was Ich Liebe was unexpected, but definitely nice
- Starting off Deutschland with the big bad red laser right up at the sky. Beautiful.
- At the end, the top of the main tower blasted out flames for a good few seconds, but after everything was done it was kinda still on fire. Legends say it's still smoldering to this day
I fuckin LIVE for little bits of interaction at live shows
Seeing Fleshgod Wednesday, I was at the bars directly in front of the guitarist the whole time, (Fabio I think? I suck with remembering their names) and I swear he stared right at me through multiple solos and riffs
Granted, he was pulling Guitar Faces ™️ and I was doing the whole urggg nasty riff expression back at him so it kinda looked like we were just grimacing at each other the whole time, but details
Oh crap I think the extra UK venue Rammstein are tesasing is actually smack in the middle of my home city oh shit oh fucc
Okay okay one more note from the MK show: I was super pleasantly surprised that they played Sonne, which was actually the first Rammstein song I ever heard. The rotating orange spotlights, the flames and the bursts of black smoke, the sound of unrelenting machinery - it genuinely wrenched me right back to 2008, getting my first glimpse of heavy music and being absolutely indescribably enthralled with the song. So thank you, Rammstein, for bringing it full circle for me. It was one of my favourite parts of the show.
On my way to see [t h e b o y s]
Oomph! Gig Masterpost:
- They played a lot of older stuff. I'm actually quite surprised at how little they played from Ritual. Lots of songs I knew, so I won't complain
- They played Sandmann, and Labyrinth, and Auf Kurs, and Jede Reise Hat Ein Ende, as well as small bits of Fieber and Das Letzte Streichholz, AND Augen Auf, AND TRÄUMST DU. I couldn't believe my damn ears. They also introduced me to Mein Schatz, which I shall be listening to again later...
- There were two drums at the front of the stage that were solely there for Dero to beat the shit out of in exciting song parts where he wasn't singing
- Flux is having too much fun at all times
- Flux is also really very good at being sinister and he should do it more often
- They all seemed genuinely surprised at just how many Brits were going crazy for their music and how well we knew the German lyrics
- Dero does a lot of ... Dero Things™️. These include running in circles, jumping in circles, licking his knuckles in a very suggestive manner against almost complete silence, starting almost every song by blurting "HEH" into the mic before the guitar kicks in, constantly hanging his tongue out of his mouth, breathing heavily into the mic, licking his hand and blowing it like a kiss, and at one point, suddenly sticking his finger down his throat mid-sentence and spitting on the floor (ew, Dero. Get some manners)
- They played some of their extremely early material from their first album and it got very weird and experimental-electronic very quickly but they still absolutely killed it
- Dero felt the need to reassure us that they do, in fact, love us, before playing Kein Liebeslied
- Dero calls the metal horns sign "devil fists"
- Flux actually oozes stage presence. It was hard to look away from that guy
- Crap was too far away for the whole thing and I could barely see him but he had some really fucking cool guitar designs going on. I'm sure one of them had this translucent frosted glass thing going on with lights on the inside. Really noice
- Flux and Crap threw sealed water bottles into the crowd. Dero, however, is a troublesome child, and instead decided to open two bottles and drench the first 4 rows in front of him (funny but I'm also kinda jealous?)
- One of the water bottles Flux threw actually landed directly in my hand but then bounced away
- Dero stagedived, as did the singer of Heldmaschine (who were also impressively good). I've literally never even seen a band member try that until now. The security folks didn't seem too happy about it lmao
- When he speaks English, Dero's accent flips wildly between sounding American and suspiciously English
-Also I'm pretty sure there was a moment where he said a couple sentences in German before stammering, stopping himself, and remembering he was meant to be speaking English
- Dero kept yelling at us to "celebrate yourselves" which is one of the most wholesome things I think I've heard a singer yell
Honestly though this whole experience was incredible. Took like a million pictures so I'm gonna have to have a proper look through them tomorrow. It's a shame I wasn't able to locate the band but all in all, extremely worth the hassle to get here
Oomph! Were somehow even better than I imagined
